Copy, I appreciate it. I don't do extended oil drain intervals on my gas vehicles... every 5K miles or 12 months. Wifes truck has 4200 on it now and will be a year old Aug.I've run 5-20 in the 5.7's and 0w40 in the 6.4's. I live in interior Alaska and the trucks see up to mid 80's in the summer and -40 in the winter.
My .02 cents is the same failure mode happening with Ford 5.4's, extended drain interval. Engines that get the oil changed more often don't seem to have the failures. Also, MDS engines (like GM's smallblocks) should have lifters replaced every 125k -150k in my opinion. Once the rollers get chewed up, it's cam time baby!
