-My 95 2500 4x4 extended cab auto was full of problems. Chrysler bought it back.
-My 96 2500 4x4 extended cab 5speed std was a sold truck. I kept it 20yrs. I could do 22 MPG on the highway solo
-My 07.5 6.7 2500 4x4 mega cab auto was a solid truck. I deleated it and had EFI live on it. Plenty of power. Never could get better then 16 MPG on the highway solo. 6 weeks ago at 52,000 miles I totaled it.
-I now have a 2013 2500 6.7 crew cab 4x4 long bed. I love it! It was a one owner and well cared for. Had it on the highway and and a little town and got 19.8 MPG hand calculated! 370 HP and 800 ft lbs torque. No need to delete it. Def works fine and It’s all the power I need. And it’s QUIET! Maybe I am getting old but I like quiet!

I would say 2013 and newer. I hunted for two weeks to find my 2013. I drove 700 miles round trip to get it. It was worth it!

I like quiet too! I have a friend with a 2008 with EGR delete and he thinks it's great.

My 2015 ecodiesel has had eight recalls since July 1,2016 when bought new.

Thanks, I think the 2015 2500, and 3500 has had nearly as many, not sure why Snoking singled out the 2013,2014 as far as recalls . I have had some that didn't amount to much, but like the track bar, drag link, water pump, SCR the ones those were more significant, the 2015 was also involved, so to separate the 2013,14 from the 2015 not sure on that .

I would agree singling out the 2013, 2014 is not a fair statement . I think there is some things. The y pipe on coolant system has been a problem on the 2014's , a few more recalls , but nothing to stay away from a 2013,14.

2015s were not on the buy back list, 2013 and 2014s were.

7 recalls on my 2015.

No one said the 2015's were on the buy back list .You seem to have to have made it a point to mention recalls on the 2013,14 , they all have had an excessive amount of recalls .

I think we can all agree that having recalls is better than having a manufacture that ignores issues. The trucks have evolved slightly each year. We use the power folding mirrors all the time. Our 2015 does a lot of DD year round. From the car port in AZ the mirrors can get folded 4-6 times including parking back in car port on any given day.

I would like to have front park sense but that was a 2016 feature, so I installed a front camera in the Ram badge in the grill and a 4.3" display that looks down at front bumper.

OP asked best year to purchase. Some would say 2018, last year of the CP3 injector pump.

I agree, they improve every year, yes the recalls are necessary. but you missed my point. We will leave it at that :)

Recalls did not bother me at all! Truck never left me along the side of the road (so far).

Left by the road twice. But not far enough from home to really upset me. Left by the road once with the dogs and wife which was a challenge because uber will not always let you take pets in their car. We did a luxury uber with leather seats so it would be easy for him to clean and left a generous tip.

The other time the wife was able to come get the dog in her car.

1st time a fuel module that sits near the top of the tank was leaking profusely and i was afraid it was too dangerous to drive.

2nd time the ECM died and it wouldn't start.

Both were covered by extended warranty minus the $107 deductible.

But don't get me wrong. I love my 2013 and have put too much money into it to trade it in. Sulastic shackles, FAST coolers, Gooseneck hitch, differential cover, metal wye for the upper radiator hose, etc.

Also, i know i have kept it maintained and the dealer knows it because they keep asking if i want to sell it.
The only way to get a g56 is to buy a used one ..... Which is hard to find. Which may be why the dealer keeps asking if i'm ready to sell.

My recommendation would be to go with 2015-2018 If you can find one equipped right. If not, go 2013-2014.
