need a nox sensor 1

check engine lite came on. scanned a code p2201 which I believe is nox sensor 1. Is really necessary? it's really pricey. Th check engine lite is really not bothersome. The truck is running fine. You're help is appreciated.

Yes. Any fault that will light up the check will cause your emission system to not regenerate. If you go long enough, you will time out and the truck will derate and eventually not be drivable.
I’m sorry to give the news, but I see this very often in my work with light and heavy class diesel trucks.
I’m reading on this forum, that there may be aftermarket parts available. I personally would stick with OEM parts, but in this case it may be worth looking into.

Before dropping some cash on the sensor, it might be wise to double-check the connector at the sensor. It could be an issue with the connector not seated properly or a pin within the connector that is to blame.

^^^^ or just moisture in it. Dielectric grease may help.
