Only for under 10k GVW
You are correct it is 10k and under but rule has no reference to Class 3 or any other class. It just states GVWR of 4536kg (10000 pounds) or less. Under 10k was close enough for the discussion at the time.10k and under! Class 3 starts at 10,001 lbs.
I haven't tried it but I would think it could be done with AlfaOBD using the same basic procedures that are used to set monitor pressure and switch a 2500 to TPIS. IE set the pressure thresholds, set to TPMS mode in BCM and then reset RF hub.I think it would OK to be able to set a minimum alarm , but it looks like it cant be done on the 3500's
That sounds good, but I would have to find someone to help me with an AlfaOBD ,( tried before but couldn't find anyone)I haven't tried it but I would think it could be done with AlfaOBD using the same basic procedures that are used to set monitor pressure and switch a 2500 to TPIS. Daytime running lights is easy. You enable in BCM. Do you have AlfaOBD already?I was trying to get daytime running lights and the tire thing, maybe more?
I have easily seen 92or 93 psi on my 2014 RAM 3500......but I cannot answer if there’s an upper limit or not.Is there an upper pressure read limit on the 3500 sensors?
common sense!
I haven't yet looked in AlfaOBD to see if I could add a low threashold for TPIS, but I have heard of people tuning their TPMS setting OFF vs lower... so it might be possible.
Based on how I use my truck I would have to set the warning so low that it wouldn't do much good loaded up. I run pressure in the 25 range while hunting, or if I have to put chains on and I don't want a warning for that. Besides that I have heard the lowest threshold for the 2500 TPMS is in the 30's (36 comes to mind??).
I have also seen pressures in the low-mid 90's without any warning.
I prefer to drive with the tire pressure screen up anyhow, so not having a low psi warning doesn't bother me. Not having TPMS was just one of many reasons I was 3500 shopping vs 2500 shopping... of course that was before I knew about AlfaOBD.
I prefer to run with the screen monitoring the coolant, oil, transmission etc. All I care is that one of my tires is not losing air, just a low pressure warning would be nice, and a setting that "I" could set.
Not too concerned going down a dirt road hunting, yes I lower mine for certain things like hunting or chains. My concern is traveling 65-70 mph with a fifth wheel in tow, and the only way I know what my tires are doing is if I am staring at a screen all the time or frequently hoping I catch it going flat. Yes a warning would be nice, like we have with TMPS systems on our trailers. Only got to have one tire failure on a heavy fifth wheel ONCE to know the importance of getting a warning about what a tire is doing, short of a blow out, they are great to have.
What I am going to do is just add the sensors to my truck, so my TST that I got for the my fifth wheel will give me a warning . Should of done it in the first place. Can set for whatever or just remove when not needed.
