Crank Case filter?

Do these Rams throw a code at 67500 miles to change the crankcase filter? I only have 56000 on mine, but my buddy has a 2013 that has a dealer service warning. He took it in and they changed the CCF but can't clear the warning lite, or so they claim.

I think we may have gotten this cleared up...I did some digging in the forums and found some good info on this. Apparently the light is to clean the EGR, which isn't needed. Thanks

That’s correct....on the 2013 and newer DEF Cummins equipped pickups and Cab & Chassis, there no longer is any prescribed EGR valve or EGR cooler cleanings at 67,500 mi, 135,000 mi, etc.....just the CCV filter.

Watch out the Dealers will give the BS "it's a recommended service to do the cleaning". Suckered my Son on that one. I had words with the Service Manager and he did some free maintenance items for him to make up for it.

Actually, Bob4x4 thinks it may be useful to inspect and clean the egr valve.

Edit: but how would you know if they actually did the EGR valve or if they just charged you for it and didn't do the service. I know some tire shops just charge for alignments, but don't even bother to check the alignments..... Much less do the alignments

Actually, a "grocery getter" would already have the cleanest of egr valves, so it would not likely need cleaning.

There is no egr on a cold engine. So the egr valve would have more flow on a hard-working hot engine.

There is no light to clean the egr. The message was to change the CCV.

Started to get the 'perform service' warning last week at 67000 miles so I changed out the CV Filter today at 68,000 miles, If anyone cares: the new filter weights 95 grams and the old weights 135 grams.

Quick and straight forward procedure except that I had not read about the two 8mm bolt/studs that need a deep socket to remove easily. I ended up using a closed end 8mm and it just took a few extra minutes. I did not disconnect any wiring or hoses; just lifted the cover up from the front and slipped the old one out and the new filter in.
