Be careful if you are trying to put dielectric grease on connectors. Some of the exhaust sensors are attached to the module and although it looks like the connector disconnects from the module, it doesn't. If you try hard enough you will ruin the connector and have to purchase a new module and sensor assembly.

Jumping this thread I have a 2014 that is firing the P2201 code consistently, started the begining of the year and I just cleared the code and it worked

Question now I need to replace this sensor-I have seen three difference part numbers. Does anyone with certainty know what is the correct part number? The prices range from $350-900

Thank in advance

I would like to know as well. I cleared the code and it came back on the second start-up. At some point it might derate me but I don't know that for sure. I'm also due to get a couple or three more recalls done and getting a "Vehicle Phone Needs Service" message every time I start the engine. If it is not too expensive I could get ity all done at the same time. Or do it myself if I can find the darn thing with an original or aftermarket part.

My ‘14 has the upstream in the turbo elbow and the downstream in the tail pipe just before the rear axle. Since last Monday I’ve had P2201, P229E and P15Csomething or other. In about 80ish miles I’ll be derated to 5 mph. I’m so excited I can hardly wait!! I also just ran out of warranty 1100 miles ago.

Why you keep having this is beyond Me...….Do you have alfaobdII.

Just a bit of update on the sensor issue. I was at a wheel alignment facility yesterday and had them check the code and repair cost. They mentioned it could be one of two things. The sensor or the ECM. They recommended a scan just as Ozy did. If it is the sensor their estimate was $1021 for the sensor and $164 labor to install. While checking part prices I heard Dorman mentioned but that was the more expensive part and I don't know where they got the 1021 price. Either way it's a heck of a cost for what seems to be a simple part. I have an appt. next week with the dealer for three of the recalls and will get it checked out on witech. I imagine their parts and labor might be more. At the cost of the part I don't want to spend over 1K and find out it's not a fix. I will post more about this next week. I did not get an answer to my question where on line parts are generally purchased but maybe a search after I find the part number will turn something up.

Well I finally made it to the dealer and paid for the diagnostic test. It's the upstream oxy sensor for sure. Dealer quoted over $1500 for parts and labor. The local repair shop was $1274 Parts and labor. The MOPAR replacement part 68210084AA is available on line for $929.50 and a Dorman direct fit replacement part is $493 plus shipping. So if we can trust Dorman to make a good part it's a no brainer. Anyone have issues with Dorman products?

So far so good on the Dorman for mine, it's been a little over a year so far but only about 5000 miles.

I will add that I climbed around under mine yesterday again and I cannot find anything that looks like the replacement part. I see one sensor on the down pipe near the first smaller canister that I believe is the catalytic converter but that looks like the temperature sensor part and no foil wrapping around it. When searching for parts I saw a temp sensor picture and it looks the same.

I'm going to do another search for the part listing a 2013 Ram instead of a 2014 since I have an early build date. There is nothing on my frame rail that crosses over the frame like the Motor City fellow shows in the video. Nor is there a module on the inside of the rail. One mention of the device being mounted on the engine behind the oil filter might be a possibility but I cannot see that area from under the hood nor thru the wheel well due to the liner. I may have to take the air intake apart like I do for an oil change to see down in that area.

For my education if anyone would tell me the nomenclature for the exhaust system components I would appreciate that. Is the cat the first in line, then the DP filter and muffler if we still have those?

You have 3 "canisters" I'm your system. Starting closest to the exhaust manifold is the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) then the diesel particulate filter (DPF) then the selective catalyst reduction (SCR).

As to your NOX sensor the module is located between the turbo and the shock. Visible through the passenger side wheel well. Once you locate it trace the wires back to the sensor.

Thank you JR. I cannot see it through my wheel well due to the liners. All I can see is the bottom of the oil filter and the coil spring. The liner is not too bad to take out but would I be better off taking the Turbo hose assembly off like I do to change the filter? My oil filter cannot be changed from the wheel well due to the liner. So I have set up my hose assembly to remove rather easy (if anything can be said to be easy on these) like one other forum member suggested. The 10 mm bolts and other attachments are in the correct position now to remove with long extensions.

Mike your wheel well must be different than mine, i can see the module without removing anything. I'll try and grab a picture later. Regardless, if you are thinking of changing it yourself I'd remove the tire and wheel well. It will make accessing the sensor a little easier.
