NOT trying to convince anyone of anything. I am just showing in WORDS what they say.
PLEASE show where I have tried to sway anyone. Giving info is what I thought we are all about?????
You are attempting to make a case against 5w40, when there is absolutely no reason to.
I think many here never see below the magical "0" number and run the 5-40 when 15-40 SYNTHETIC is available and in words CUMMINS says is preferred.
See, there you go again. It doesn't matter if you think some never see below 0, many do and........you don't HAVE to see below 0 to use 5W40...did you see the chart? Ram says its good at ALL temperatures!
The 15-40 "IS" relevant as the spec I showed that you did NOT comment on mentions SYNTHETIC 15-40 CES 20081.
Which spec did you show me? CES 20081 does not specify "synthetic". The Rotella that the manual is recommending is NOT synthetic, yet it meets the CES 20081. The conventional 15W40 that Ram is recommending has a higher pour point than your Amsoil that you keep bringing up, therefore, you cannot use the 3 or 5* pour point comparison to support what the manual says.
I am "touting" the 15-40 and so is CUMMINS! CES 20081
You are touting Amsoil 15W40, which has better specs than what the manual recommends. Oils meeting CES 20081 can be synthetic or conventional.
If one could simply go to Walmart and grab a gallon of Amsoil 15W40 for $21, you'd have a reason to preach your precious oil, but since Amsoil is considerably more expensive, considerably more difficult to obtain, and Rotella T6 5W40 meets and exceeds the requirement......there is no reason to try to make a case against it.
