Help.

After starting my truck, when I pull the ebrake the truck completely shuts off. Happens randomly and just recently started 3 weeks ago. Truck will always start right back up and drive fine.

Truck is a g56 2wd.

I've checked both batteries alternator and connectors near ebrake.

I've posted this in the 4th gen group also for more help.

Don't pull the e-brake...all kidding aside I would say that if the truck dies when you push the e-brake then somehow the sensor on the e-brake is interrupting the electrical system. I would replace the e-brake sensor and that should take care of the issue.

I was thinking the sensor that trips the light on the dash that says the e-brake is on. Figured there was a chance that could cause an electrical issue and it doesn't cost anything to disconnect and then see if the truck still dies when the e-brake is pushed.

my truck does have one after all. I thought it had too. Here is a diagram

If you slowly let the brake up does it still die?

I’m guessing there is a loose connection in the dash and the sudden slam of the brake to released is causing the issue.

There is a sensor for the brake, but that shouldn’t ever shut the truck down.

No sir, slow release does nothing. Staring truck without ever using brake does nothing.

Hasn't happened in a few days so I'm experimenting at this point lol

Sure seems like a loose connection in the dash. But man, that’s a serious one. I’d hate to hit a pothole and have the truck die.

Have you found the connection that deals with the ignition switch?

Yes. I've traced all the wiring that goes over to near the parking brake. Started at the ignition switch and made sure all those were connected.

Started the truck yesterday and just started pulling on stuff and wiggling things to see if something would happen and nothing.

I'll keep y'all posted on this and what I find if it happens again.

Maybe it's just your ignition switch that is worn out and from the WHAAAM releasing the Ebrake it interrupts IGN ON.

Have you tried wiggling the Key?
