Hose with plastic fitting hanging from the transmission area. Traced the beginning to the area above the electronic shift motor (shift on the fly) of the transfer case. I have checked the parts diagrams and can't seem to find anything. Anybody know where the other end of this hose attaches?

It’s a breather. It’s been a while, but I think mine was clipped under the hood on the passenger side near the dipstick for the transmission. You can tie it up anywhere you want. Just keep it high enough to stay out of water.

The plastic fitting looks like it goes to another section of hose. But I stretched it out above the transmission and don't see a mate. The plastic fitting doesn't look like the end of the breather to the front differential.

I don’t have it anymore so I can’t go look, but I'm pretty sure it had a clip and was on the drivers side spring bucket.

Honestly I’d just run it as far fwd and high as you can and zip tie it up.

Doesn't stretch to the spring bucket. The end of the plastic fitting is chipped as you can see in the attached photo. I'll check my brother's 2006 to see if I can find it a home.

It's on the rear of the engine block, just above the bell housing- at least on my 04.5

I think I found it. See the attached photo where you can see the broken plastic fitting - bracket - clamp. The hose ends at that point coming around from the passenger side. We must have knocked it off doing the turbo replacement.

Yup it’s for the transfer case. And there should be a little giggle cap on the end.

Wayne I think you are right and would explain why mine appears broken. I found the part below and will order one because it appears to be both the bracket and vent.
