Synthetic Brake Fluid

After posting about fluid intervals I went to O'Rileys to purchase brake fluid and found that everything on the shelf, no matter which DOT number, says synthetic brake fluid. Is that the norm these days? Or should I look elsewhere? I was concerned about compatibility with the fluid already on board. They are the only auto supply store in my region.

The big concern is the Dot # IE 3, 4 or 5.1. I believe 3 and 5 can be mixed but 4 cannot mix with anything.

IF AH64ID sees this he can explain better. He is the one that has helped me ton's on this subject as well.

5 is silicone and cannot be mixed. 3 and 4 are interchangeable, with 4 having a higher boiling point. Not up to speed on 5.1.

Synthetic is fine, and I think preferred to the potential harsh environment that brake fluid can live in.

So for the OP, find some DOT 3 and fill her up. If you can't find DOT 3 then DOT 4 is fine. DOT 5.1 would also work, but it is more specialized and will be harder to find.

Do you keep photos of all your Amsoil products on your phone? Or run out to the shop for a new photo anytime any fluid is mentioned?

Believe it's always been synthetic, just never marketed that way.
5 is not compatible with any other. 5 can only been used on a complete new system or one that have been completely flushed with alcohol. Use 4 in everything. 5 in my 52 Dodge Coronet.
