I am looking at buying a ranch Hand bumper and came across another brand that looks just as good and half the money anyone have any experience

It looks good, compare gauge of steel. I had a Browns Welding (local TX builder) full bumper/brush-grill guard, and was really stout. I'd say go for it if the steel gauge the same or close. After you're done, you may want to upgrade front springs and shocks with all that weight hanging on the front.

Cheers, Ron

I liked the overall "style" but didnt like the diamond plate look for a bumper. Road Armor has a good looking bumper that is that style without the diamond plate look. Was a pretty decent price.

I don't know about the cheaper one, but we have put ranch hands on three pickups now and smoked multiple deer and no damage except when I caught one one the corner and it rolled down the side. Paint seems a little better on the ranch hands compared to others I have looked at, but the oldest one that gets drove when it snows on salted roads is starting to rust some. Still isn't too bad for 6+ years old.

I'm sure the ranch hand is heavier. The picture of the ranch hand is the Legend bumper, they have a cheaper one that would match the other one you are looking at. I have put 3 ranch hand Legends on pickups now and smoked multiple deer and no damage except when one rolled down the side of the truck. I think ranch hand has better paint than some I've seen but will still eventually rust some if driven on salted roads. If your looking for front end protection, there might be some as good, but I doubt any better than the ranch hand. As far a weight goes I've never noticed any problems with the extra weight.

any negative effects from the extra front end weight? My ball joints upper and lower are greasable and I grease two or three times a year what about fuel mileage.

My 02 3500 QC 4x4 didn't have any problems with 198K miles on it when I sold it. I had 3" leveling spacers, Rancho RS 9000 shocks, front on level 9, dual steering stabilizers, and no problems, all original parts except as stated. If you have any steering problems currently, the extra weight will exacerbate the problem.

I didn't notice any drop in fuel mileage, I had 4.10s and 5600 6spd. and 33 inch tires.

Cheers, Ron
