I checked the wiring to the old lift pump harness, the fuse box and the wiring at the ECM to ensure it was all connected tight. It seems ok to me

You should have 12vdc on the tan and black when connected to the battery unless you have a bad connection or dead battery. You will never get power out until that happens.

You could try disconnecting the batteries overnight as the ECM may be having a hiccup. Another members would run continuously and it fixed his.

I just don’t understand what happened unless the pump just happened to go bad when I pulled it in the garage to do all of the steering, ball joints, hubs and front axle replacement. I didn’t touch anything pump or wiring wise until the pump wouldn’t fire up.

ECM is electronic and do not seem to need an excuse. Static electricity etc. can cause problems along with accidentally touching something causing conduction.

Since you cannot get the pump to run I am sure you have not run the engine ?. You could hot wire the pump with a fuse directly to the battery to run the pump and see if the engine will start. That will tell you more of the ECM condition.

I put a wire from the battery terminal to the yellow and nothing happened with the pump. Also from the red wire on the relay to the yellow and nothing happened. I guess when I get home from FH on Thursday I’ll call Airdog and see if they have any suggestions. I’ll post back with news.

Slang for (another word for breasts) up.

ha that’s what I thought but wanted to be sure it wasn’t shorthand for something else. I went through again and checked every relay, breaker and fuse in the fuse box and found nothing bad. The new pump is due to be here Friday so hopefully that fixes it. Do you by chance know if they’re rebuildable? I wouldn’t mind having a spare.

Do you have power on the trigger wire with Key on?

Why should a new pump fix the problem when there is no power to the pump?

i have no idea which wire is the trigger wire. Can you be more specific? I’ve stated everything I know currently about the condition of the system.

I’m not opposed to wiring it outside of the ECM if it’s possible to do that like guys have done on the second gens. I however couldn’t locate the diagram for wiring it up.

Trigger wire,
Disconnect the black and Tan. With an ohmmeter read each to ground. When you have continuity that is your ground wire and the other should be the trigger wire from the ECM 12vdc. If like the 2nd gens a slight crank (no start) will energize that wire for about 30 seconds.

Ok, there is some chatter going on that the pump, now relay maybe wired to the PCM and not the ECM. In that case the PCM usually switches the ground and not the hot. We need to figure out which one it is.

Disconnect the Black and Tan from what? The black is grounded to the battery as it has always been and the red wire is connected to the fuse box as it was originally when I got the truck.
