Little over 400 miles and the tire pressure light came on. Shows no reading. And I just checked the air pressure in all the tires that day too. Bought me one of them 2020 Ram 4x4. Ever truck I have had them damn light for the tires has screwed up. Dealer says looks like Ram got a bad batch of them they have had problems with them doesn't know when they will be in. He said to bring it by tomorrow and they might be able to recalibrate it.

Haha, if it makes you feel any better, I was test driving one over the weekend and the same thing happened. 2020 Bighorn. I just dropped it off and I'm waiting on some numbers and all that. I told the salesperson about it. I also think they over-inflate the tires. The door sticker (for this model anyway) said max 65psi cold, and the sensors said 80. I wonder if it went completely out of the sensor's range as the air expanded in tires.

I would think it would have to go really high out of range. I used to fill my tires to 80psi and it would get as high as 86-87psi on a 100* day and never came on. I now run mine at 62 front and 49 rear.

Yeah, that makes more sense to me. I can see running higher pressures if you're towing. Unladen though (as in my testing), 80psi seems a tad high. That's also what I've read elsewhere here.

Yeah, I used to run 80 empty or loaded all the time, (way I grew up with my dads truck) but now I don't really ever tow and the ride was ridiculous so I dropped her down and it rides better and the tires are lasting loner too lol.

Yep when I drove mine home I thought it was riding a little harsh. Ck the tires next morning and each one had 81psi. Drop them down to 65. I will ask them tomorrow when I take it in why they put 81 psi in the tires. I think ever truck I have had with the tire pressure alarm I have had problems with them. They must be getting the sensors from China. I remember asking them on a 2010 or maybe it was the 2017 if they could just disarm the damn thing. They said no it was in the program. I wonder if the 2220 have something in there where you can disarm it. I saw where they have something where you can disable the rain sensing wipers. Which is what I am going to do. It came on this morning and only thing on windshield was a bug. Hell I know how to turn wipers on and off and I don't need no sensor to tell me if I got a low tire. To much crap they got on them now. May be I should of kept the 89 Dodge I had. Things were much simpler back then. :) I have not been on here in a while and wondered what happened to my picture so I had to find it agin and put it back up.

Just my take on the nanny devices (TPMS). I have removed the wheel sensors on my summer tires and wheels since I do not use the recommend set tire pressure for my truck. I run 50 PSI in the front and 70 PSI when I am towing my trailer. My winter tires I run 45 PSI in the rear tires with 60 PSI in the front tires. All I get upon start up are either four or two dings and the low tire pressure light will come on. No big deal to me! I do check my tire pressures on both of my vehicles every month and adjust them accordingly. Usually I will add maybe 5 PSI to my wife's Jetta every once in awhile were the trucks tires never seem to need adjusting!

I have driven vehicles for 50 years before we needed these nanny devices. I was taught along, long, long time ago that you needed to check the oil level, air pressure and other fluids in any vehicle you owned and operated. When did they stop teaching this and people became such idiots behind their steering wheels.

Yep I agree with ya. I am old school. I do not need all this fancy stuff. Some of it do help but all the manufactures are going overboard. And when one starts it the others follow sooner or later. To many idiots (thats what I call em) on the roads nowadays. Just look around you. And they vote and look what has happened to the good ole USA. We need to step back in time to the good ole days. Life was simpler. Most of these young ones well they just don't get it. Stupid people breed stupid kids and the cycle goes on. Damn Jim W you got me started with a little help from Randomrunner12. Heading over to the dealer in a little while to see if they can reprogram it. I think they going to have to replace it myself.

I am not a big fan of nanny's in general, but I do like tire pressure being displayed in the truck. That being said I have TPIS and not TPMS. TPIS will not set alarms regardless of the pressure, it's just a display. I run 60/35 empty, 55/30 winter, and 65/80 towing. No lights and no issues.

I do have a TPMS for the trailer which I also really like as I do a lot of dirt/gravel driving where punctures are more common and it's often hard to see the trailer tires unless I'm in a good curve. I get to set the desired pressure too, so that helps.

Every time I have Costco rotate my truck tires they give it back to me with 60-65 in the fronts and 80 in the rears, even when I tell them that is will not leave their lot until I let the rears down to 45 as I am running empty. We did find that at 39K on the Michelin Defenders that the outer edge of to front had worn more. And I had thought it was only the duallies that had to much toe in. At any rate not time to get an alignment before leaving for Az. So will wait until next summer and re-shoe it and get an alignment at Ron guy. Tires will have around 55K then, which is a lot better than the 30K I got out of the OEM FS AT's.

If you are in any shop in CA they have to set them to the placard pressure or they are in violation of the law. Not bad on cars, but a PITA on trucks.

It is working now. They replaced it. They said they had been going through a lot of them lately. Damn I forgot to ask the service manager if you can disarm it like you can turn off the rain sensor wipers. Guess I can not multitask in other words me forgot to ask him. But I will call him tomorrow. If I remember

I picked my new 2500 up today. Turned out the problem I had was a missing sensor on the left rear wheel. LOL. They took one off another truck and ordered one for that one to get me out the door, kinda cracks me up.

Hope they didn't forget to put anything else on the truck. ;)

Sounds like they did a nice complete New Vehicle Prep. The light had to be on the entire time!

It would be interesting to know what system is in the new GM 2500HDs that have a GVWR of over 10,000lbs.

My GM dealer has an odd Window Sticker system, they have issues at times with the options I have found.

But the 3500HD and 2500HD list it the same way. So trust this for what they post.

2020 3500HD GVWR 11,500

2020 Sierra 2500HD

GVWR 10,850
Lists it as
Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Monitors and alerts you if there is a low-pressure condition in one or more of the tires.

Includes Tire Fill Alert
