California Truck

I posted earlier today and really appreciate the input on the received regarding a cold air inlet. have another question and would like to impose on this wonderful group again. This is a learning experience for me and appreciate your patience.

This truck that I bought came from California. Does it have a special emissions package on it above and beyond what one purchased here in Ohio would have?

I think 2004.0 was the last year of a CA motor.

235/460 for CA SO
250/460 for the 49 remaining states SO
305/555 for the HO (Triple Nickel)

Same as 04.0. Starting January 1st 2004, aka 2004.5, they were all 50 state motors. 325/600... then 325/610, then 6.7.

Crazy to think my motor has 202% torque of the last 5.9 SO.

And two auto trannies, as some still had the 47RE and the rest the 48RE.

The 47RE was offered briefly during the 2003 model year as the more desirable 48RE was being introduced behind the High Output Cummins variant. If the 8th digit of the vehicle identification number (VIN) is a "6", the engine is a standard output model and the transmission is a 47RE.

Yes!!! I was lucky enough to have one of those 555 engines! A very stout unit! NV5600 was the bomb behind it! That truck would literally pull a house down! No EGR either!

2003 RAM 2500 (Casper).....and it even had those 3.73 “compromise” gears, too!!!

Easily removable for nighttime driving. They were actually headlight covers, maybe of the brand GTS?

hmmmm. I changed my 98 to 3.73’s. Only had a 4 speed not 6 speed.

would have been better with 4.10’s. Ask the “KING”.
