Dealer in Burlington WA said they have had one CP4 issue but had not determined if it was a failure or contaminated fuel.

OH, the old Ford CP4.2 contaminated fuel issue! Play it again Sam or is it Ram? With the filtering system RAM has, that tune does not resonate very well.

Just read all 7 pages. Giant waste of time. Have any of you ever been to the midrange plant. Do you realize how many of these engines are made every month. For the VERY small percentage of these that fail you have a warranty that covers it. Or did you piss off your dealer so bad when you bought it they never want to see you again. Name one thing that is built by humans that is perfect forever, I'll wait for a reply.

Yes, several of us were at the last one that was held in 2019. One thing thay was pointed out to us, was all of the production at the Midrange plant was being shipped to Ram for their truck.

But as I have stated above some guys just like to complain about everything. Their not happy unless they can complain about something!

Back in 2013 Cummins had told us that they cold ran 100% of the engines made. Cold meaning hook up to an electric motor spin over check for oil leaks an pressure. But No fuel or firing of engine. One out of every 1000 was hot tested with fuel. So it’s not likely that the issues with these CP4 pumps would have shown up at the factory level.
There haven’t been enough New marine units around in my area to a fair assessment of how they will hold up.
RAM also takes a fully assembled truck at random and real world tests it for a few thousand miles. Then if all good sends it out for sale. I’ve seen a few of these test trucks on Dealers lots over the years.
These Test trucks are the ones you want. Yes they have been driven then inspected. But if they pass you know you’re getting a really good truck.
I do agree that some people are not happy unless they are angry about something. But following the posts here and on other sites it sounds like there have been more than just a few failures. As bad as the eccodiesel failures? I doubt it. But there have been failures. I hope that they get the issues resolved I really want to have faith in Cummins. RAM has lost my faith. But Cummins..... Nothing more true USA blood than that company.

I’m still waiting for my 2019....aka “The piddler”...to poop the CP4....at any minute. Somehow it manages to keep running on crummy Alaska North Slope diesel and towing heavy loads and a 500 gallon water tank in the bed every two days! When will the madness end?!?!?!? Just broke 10k miles yesterday while towing a bobcat and 500 gallon tank up a 13% grade at 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Pure madness I tell you!
