Hey Gang, I have a 98.5 1 ton long bed with a lumber rack I had to modify that came off a ford with parallel rails. Evidently the newer cans are wider so they taper the beds to match the body lines at the front but keep the rear about the same as the older truck beds. Anyways I'm looking for an 06/07 2500 to replace my 1 ton and want to put that lumber rack that now fits my 98.5 1 ton perfect. Do you guys know if the newer boxes are about the same widths and tapered rails like my 98?
Thanks
Walt

Well can’t speak for your years but I have a B&W headache rack that had been on my 01 for many years then when I got my 17 I moved it over and it fit fine. Is it a perfect match for the lines no but it is really close and no issue for me

Well I now have the 3rd gen and it definitely wont fit the way it is. I need to raise it at least an inch (3rd Gen cab higher about 1-1/2") and wider at the front about an 1-1/2" as well. Not a big problem.

After replacing a couple rear windows, I bought some steel and welded together a headache rack for my '03. Now that I have retired my old truck, I was happy to see it fit perfectly on my '15.

Nice ! I just bought some 1-1/2" pipe and need to extend the legs up an inch or two to clear the taller gen 3 cab. :)

I had a friend years ago that ran 2x4 lumber down his bed rails for a protective rail/cap. Something like that could increase your height pretty easily...
