So, grabbed my phone and called and told them I wanted that great deal on an extended warranty for my truck!

So, they start asking for my truck info...

comrades - i had to set my phone to reject EVERY incoming call if the number was not in my contact list because of these warranty calls. every day got between 1 and 5 calls. i would like to send the dealer or the credit union that sold my info a giant pile of something awful for this. cheers!

I keep getting phone calls for my mother who died 2+ years ago from these types. They keep calling no matter how many times I have given them that information.

Mine was a letter in the mail, not a phone call.
I never answer any call from a number I don't know, and block every number that shows as junk on caller ID.
Every once in a while, I get a partial voicemail, but dump those easily.

But what is funny the telemarketer will call back in 5 to 10 mins sometimes with a different number. I'm not sure how all of this works, but we have also found them using phone numbers of known businesses or numbers connected to real people. Their names will pop up on the caller ID as if you were getting a real call and it turns out to be the telemarketing scam when you answer.

I guess Ram just sells our information to anybody.

I can purchase a report of all Freightliner and Western Star trucks registered in the State of Maine for example. With owner addresses and what not.

It's a marketing tool that could also be purchased and used by the warranty people......a common practice used for sales twisted to suit their needs...

It's Ram. Phone #s are protected. Only political (of course) and one or two other enterprises (charities?) are immune from the law protecting phone numbers without a release.

And you sign that release when you buy a Ram. It's somewhere among the three hundred thousand signatures you have to go through. It could be the Finance Company but the one I used is Crysler Credit, so there you go.

I was told it was the DMV that sells the information.. I have been getting calls ever since I bought my truck including mailings.. none from RAM but other aftermarket warranty "offers". I also already have the 8/125 Maxcare from FCA so not sure why they would still be calling?

Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles said companies buying data on Floridians are not allowed to use that information for marketing.

That's where this information comes from....the DMV.

I know it doesn't come from the OEM's because they purchase it too....for marketing studies, tracking the sales to second and third owners, etc...also one of the many methods used to track vehicles and owners for open recalls....

Well in NC the DMV will do just about anything for revenue... All our vehicles are in different months and my wife is about tired of writing them a check every month...

I get calls for 15 and 17 year-old cars from two non-Ram brands. I don't think DMV is responsible in my case because when they asked for a phone number (for emergency) I used the local sheriff's line. That's who I call in case of emergency...

I have bought every single vehicle I have ever owned except one from a private party and I get the calls on every vehicle I own. As has been repeated its definitely coming from other (likely multiple) sources.

I have done the same. I use OOMA for my landline (Internet) and it is free once the hardware is purchased for about $125. For about $100 per year OOMA emails me a recording of voicemail messages. I get several a day and either ignore them or add the caller to my contact list.
