I was reading on the HD RAM board this was the pump that was to replace the CP-4 and is actually the pump being used in 2021 forward? Or is the numbers actually mean its a CP-3? So much dis and mis information floating around.

TIA

The way I read it it's a CP3. Google that number and see what comes up. I cant say this as an absolute fact, but my 2020 International Durastar Cummins 6.7L has a CP3, which makes me wonder if the only Cummins 6.7L with the CP4 were Ram spec'd motors.

Recommend downloading Cummins Quick Serve where you can enter your Cummins ESN and get ALL the build info on your motor, including build date.

Cheers, Ron

Its not uncommon to see different engine model years in rigs like that. What is the date on the motor?

Are you saying Cummins installed CP4s on some/ all non-Ram spec'd motors after a certain date?

I have read that they did, but have not seen one in person either way (CP3 or CP4).

The CP4 was a Cummins spec'd item and not a Ram spec'd item.

I knew Cummins spec'd the CP4. It seems Cummins did a clean cut for pumps at least for the Rams spec'd motors as no 19 thru 20 Ram Cummins received CP3s. And as mentioned, Cummins max's HP/TQ on non Ram spec'd ISB motors to 360/800. I think that's interesting Cummins does that, maybe they would create competition with their ISC motors if they produced higher rated ISBs for their non-Ram market, particularly RV where bigger HP/TQ desired.

I firmly believe the HP numbers in the pickups are purely marketing with a heavy dose of torque management to mellow things out.

If you look at Cummins website their HP ratings and duty cycle are correlated. High HP, low duty cycle. Low HP, high duty cycle.

C&C trucks, MD rigs, motor homes, etc etc are generally lower HP. Longevity, lower gear ratios, etc all play a role in the big picture.

Absolutely correct. The Cummins 6.7L ISB, regardless of "rated" HP/TQ, all have the characteristics of strong pulling/loading accross a nice RPM powerband. What I'm anxious to get the full experience on is the 5th Gen Allison transmission. From what I've read, it has some nice electronic controls and user selection for performance and economy.

Waiting on Fantastic Fan to arrive to fill opening where I removed the only cheesey feature on this RV, the noisey, crappy little exhaust fan in the bathroom, so I can take it to Internatiional on Monday to have EB programmed and switch installed.

All I can say is I LIKE Cummins!

Brother Chris,
Allison is in my 2020 International Durastar. I don't know of any Ram plans, but honestly, I love Aisin in my current 5500 and previous 4500. Not sure Allsion is an improvement, just another tested transmission.

I am assuming your MH has a "REAL" Allison.
