Nah, pure clickbait.........These are the fuel filters from my 2019 at 14,159 miles. Not a spec of anything in the engine mounted filter and only some slight sediment on the top of the primary by the tank. I was fully expecting some metal fragments but no such luck. :)

Don,

I believe you are hands dow the winner of the 2021 Chicken Little Award:rolleyes::p:D. Good job baiting the trap.... you snagged me.

Would the failure of the fuel pump show up in the filters? If the pump blew and the engine died before sucking any fuel back through the system?

Andy,

I'm certainly no expert, but there have been reports of folks finding shiney specs of metal in there first fuel filter from the tank. I've not seen a post where one exploded or had catastrophic failure. That whole mess has had some contentious "discussions" here on the TDR about how broad the problem really is, but I guess it was big enough for Ram and/or Cummins to go back to the CP3.

I'm sure there's some folks out there who have had the big failure or have direct knowledge of those who have.

Cheers, Ron

Pretty sure the pumps don’t die quickly....they make metal for a bit and then kaplowy! The filters get metal through the return of fuel from the injection system in theory.
