Well I know more now than I did a few days ago . It might be new truck time. My 3000 lbs truck camper seems like it should fit a 2022. Did some serious measuring. Truck should still fit in my garage unloaded. Color choices in and out etc 3500 regular 8 ft only comes in two trim levels tradesman and bighorn So only two choices. So I’m trying to get the real differences that matter to me. Seats would be one tow mirrors another. I don’t need stereo hi tech guidance etc stuff . I don’t need side steps or glitz just a comfortable dependable truck. Give me your thoughts and thinking on this please. Thanks

I like my fold up center console seat and can ride three if needed. Also need tow mirrors but they should fold in for being in the garage and storage etc. rubber floor no carpet air conditioning. Diesel Tow haul braking etc 4x4 10 ply tires

I haven't looked up '22 but assuming it's like '21 a Big Horn has slightly better cabin materials and more options in the comfort/convenience arena (moonroof, park sensors, LED headlamps, heated seats/steering wheel, etc.). Tow/haul is standard, exhaust brake std on diesel, tow mirrors available on both, and a 4x4 Tradesman probably has a lever in the floor.

3500's all come with the towing mirrors, manual fold on the tradesman, power fold available on the bighorn. And the flip up center seat is standard.
Sounds to me like a tradesman will get you everything you want.
Are dealers ordering new 2022's yet?
And, the RAM website doesn't have them showing yet, so no build and price page to spec one out.
Don't know if any order guide has been released on them yet either.

You seem like a real utility type guy, if you want the rubber flooring I suggest looking at a truck with the work grade vinyl to see if it suits you. If I were to ever order a truck it would have those two options, rubber floor and the work grade vinyl. I had to order good seat covers to keep my cloth seats from getting trashed.

Personally, I think you'd be crazy not to go with a crew cab.
For a vehicle that you will be driving for recreation with the camper and towing the boat, the more comfort you can have the better your trips will be.
And, to that point, I would also say you should go with a fancier trim level for even more comfort than a tradesman could provide.
What is a camping vacation supposed to be anyway, but a way to take it easy and be comfortable!
Plus, later on, when it is time to trade or sell, a crew cab will be worth LOTS more.

This is the 2nd post this week where links have been uncluded that I did not add. Stranger yet I can not edit it.

Still love my 18 Tradesman, have almost 48k mi, it's a gasser and 2500 so not much to compare there.

But trim wise work vinyl and rubber floor are great, shift on the fly transfer case works awesome, manual lever was available.

The work vinyl is just top shelf stuff.

I'm surprised it does not cost more then the cloth.

It was pretty hot in side after work last night and was no issues.

I was towing my small 7x14 enclosed for most of that trip log, it's actually not really a trip, don't bother doing the math there either on the 10hr it's correct, I help run a Habitat for Humanity program where once a year we work on about 20 homes over a weekend for elderly, low income, disabled, so its lots of small trips and delivering material while doing odd jobs.

I'd put Marathon seat covers on if I got vinyl. It's too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.

Wont fit in my garage. Hard to park. Don’t need that much cab room

If it's north/south sleeping looking up you'll see the camper. If it's east/west you're golden.

I think some members want you to expand your garage so an 8ft crew cab will fit. Don't worry, a good friend has a worse dilemma... only a regular cab short bed will fit... it works fine for him... just him and his wife. I guess they make regular cab trucks still for folks with that requirement.

Please share when you find the one you want.

Cheers, Ron

I’d park outside before owning a 1/2 ton, but that’s just me.

Does anyone even make those anymore?

My homes have never had a garage that would fit my truck, but it wasn’t never a consideration in buying the truck either. Buy the right truck for the job, not for the garage.
