Fuel Filter Change Interval

every year for me....who knows if the filter materials starts breaking down after a year or so sitting in fuel or oil.

Changed the fuel filters today on my 2013. They were in service for 14 months and had 27% remaining on the dash countdown reminder, but since it was over a year, I changed them with 27% remaining.

When removing the new filter cartridge for the front, I noticed a couple of black marks. At first, I thought it was dirt in the new shrink wrapped filter, but after closer inspection, it appears to be a permanent sharpie or magic marker.

Wondering if anyone else has noticed this on the fleetguard? Maybe a marker was used in assembly to line up the seam?

comrade newsa - as coincidence had it, i have new fleetguard next to me as i read your post. just got it today from genos. no marks anywhere on it. i assume yours was a "genuine " fleetguard? cheers sir!

I bought 6 a year ago and this is not the only one with the marks on it.

I didn't buy them from Geno's , but instead bought them from a different Cummins supplier that gave a volume discount. They do have the Cummins C stamped in the plastic and the box they were shipped in has a red fleet guard sticker on it. They were a little cheaper than Geno's, but not significantly cheaper. Regular price for one was comparable with Geno's, but the volume discount, made them slightly cheaper than just about all the competition.
