Transmission line fitting question

Fuel system

Well looks like the top of my radiator is starting to leak, Looking at Geno's and Rock auto of the same brand, course both are out of stock. Ran across a aluminum radiator from Mitsubishi (I think). Question would it be good to run an aluminum over the plastic tank? Ideas, feedback appreciated.

Thanks

I looked an Mishimoto who I suspect you are referring too, lots of mixed reviews so I went with one through Diesel Power Products that has been in a few years with no issues. I have the Mishsimoto trans cooler and love it but would have a hard time trusting the radiator with the reviews I have heard.

Right side tank blew with a large crack on mine at 160k miles... I put one in from Advanced Auto because I had to have it next day and it was trouble free, I assume still going. Not sure of the brand but wasn't anything special. (SPECTRA)?

Ok that's what i meant mishimoto. Have not looked at reviews but if you read them, guess check that off the list. Thanks

Mopar does not appear to be available, so that leaves aftermarket. I just did a quick search of my local stores. Napa, O'Reilly, Auto Zone and Car Quest, they all have it in stock. So does Summit and even Rock Auto has two choices in stock.

Looking at the radiators, How many core rows are there? I see some with 1 to 3 rows. Do our trucks come with the 2 row?
Thanks

I think just one, but I am not sure. What do you have now? Do you need extra cooling? Some of the all aluminum, show two cores. Be careful of the fine print on the stock type plastic tank radiators. Sometimes there will be a typo on the core count. Here is a link to some good info for research. They show 5 radiator choices for an '07. Just fill in your truck specs.

I'm running a Mishimoto rad without issue. What kind of reviews steered you away from it? The issue I have with Mishimoto is UPS their designated carrier. I had to get a second rad, covered under the life time warranty (no cost no shipping, kept the old one) because UPS thrashed it in transit causing 3 leaks.

I love the Mishimoto my temps are down and the product is really well designed. I did have to file off some of the welds in the cap inlet to pressure test.

Mostly welding related issue, read a lot of reviews and know a few people personally that had welds fail, hope they got it figured out.

I had success with Advanced Auto's house brand radiators too. They had two brands last tine I checked for Ram's. I went with the cheaper one with the life time warranty. Got it next day at the local store. Its better to purchase one locally because they get damaged in shipping far too often. I hate ordering radiators online, especially shipped by FedEx.

I'd imagine so their customer service is pretty good and prompt. I was driving up a 6% grade unloaded for 15mins in 5th gear earlier today at 2100 ft above sea level and didn't hit 210*.

I’ve read lots of mixed reviews on the Mishomoto as well, far too many for its price point.

With or without a load?

On my 05 and less than 16K GCW I could count on one had the number of times my coolant hit 207°, which is full open on the thermostat. I don’t think it ever got to 210° without being over 16K GCW on the stock radiator and stock fan programming. With my fan programming I had a hard time hitting 211° at 24K GCW.

FWIW the 190° thermostat cracks at 187-193°, goes full open at 207°, and has a max allowable temp of 225°.

no load around 60-65mph. I do have a bit of add ons that may skew it; a coolant bypass and constant flow filter. Bypass opens at 180*, I still use a 190* main.

I’m surprised you were that hot, especially with the bypass and filter as those should keep you cooler.

The hottest I ever got unloaded on the 05 was pulling a long 6% grade in AZ on a 116° day (later got to 124°, but only got a photo at 122°) I got to around 208°, and recall it being the only time my thermostat went full open without a trailer.

It surprised me a bit to, I don't think my fan was working correctly. I installed a new OEM Mopar fan hub assmb. When I was down for 3 months. But it was cycling on and off at idle on this most recent trip. Either way I could only imagine the temps up that grade on a stock setup loaded. I did get a taste of how altitude affects EGTs and boost. Typically around town and cruising at 65-75mph unloaded I sit at 180 consistently.

The fan cycling at idle is likely from the a/c.

The fan probably won’t do much at 210° on stock tuning.

That’s one of the reasons I don’t like that 180° bypass, the engine doesn’t get to temp. 190° is more efficient than 180°.

If you think 2100 feet made a difference you should head up to 8K :D

Aye, A/C has been a back burner issue along with my blend-doors while I put everything into keeping it on the road. No break downs on the road since ownership with my maintenance and repair schedule but creature comforts will be the last thing, i'm not an uber driver anyways.

I do like the the comfort of the lower cylinder temps at the rear, As soon as my trans is rebuilt i'm finally getting custom tuning after two years of catch up repairs and prep. I remember when I was ordering filters off a fleet guard industrial equip. supplier that I saw a part number for an OEM 5.9 Cummins coolant bypass kit; I don't think it was temperature or pressure regulated.

Stock turbo would bog near 8K, I saw 25 psi on that climb. As I was climbing I was thinking about a small project. Building a mister for the rad and intercooler. I might play around with it if I have the free time to practice wiring.
