How to correct a hard TC lock up.

2004 fan clutch

First time clutch replacement 2004 Diesel 3500. Got new south bend clutch and pressure plate installed fine. Went to remove fork and bearing and can't get it out. I'm not sure what the bearing is called but I think it's supposed to just slide out. Help!

First time clutch replacement
Ooooo boy.

The clutch release bearing has two clips holding it to the fork. You need to remove the fork first. The fork has a pivot ball on the end inside the bell housing. There is a wire holding clip on it, remove it, then pull the fork assembly out forward with the clutch release bearing mounted.

Thanks for your reply, I got it off after spraying it and putting a rod through the transmission and using the fork to drive it off.

Please polish the pilot and put a little bit of oil on it to conserve the surface from future rusting.

Edit: and silver grease on the splines.

Also check that clutch fork for wear, I can see its shiny, mine was worn about 1/8" where the clutch release bearing was riding and had to be replaced (or repaired)
