My horn on my new 2022 seems plenty loud Am I missing something here. Why do you need a air horn on a pickup ?

Stock horns can't be heard by ppl trying to kill you for some reason. So you need something many notches better. If I could, I'd use a ship horn or fog horn on those *******s. On my list to add train horns just for those that are trying to kill me and/or my family. I use my stock horn for plain ordinary idiots.

I’ve mounted the compressor in the box at the front passenger side with an aluminum cover that I made for it. The 5 gallon tank and one set of horns are up inside the box fender on the drivers side and I have another horn set on the passenger side up under the box fender at the front. 7 horns in total. I use a foot switch mounted to the floor where the 70-80’s high beam switch used to be so that it’s an easy tap job from the idle foot.
The horns are used as needed when necessary or to scare my kids friends etc. They are good for convincing critters to make a decision and get off the road. I’ve got a set of four ready for install on my Jeep Wrangler JL once it warms up a little too.

I never really knew this was so popular. Hopefully I don’t get in your way and piss you off so you have to scare me out of the way. This is just stupid

Yes, very popular. Even popular for semi trucks to add train horns.

Nothing stupid about trying to protect yourself on the road from ppl trying to kill you and/or damaging your expensive property.

The OP was asking for mounting suggestions, not opinions against air/train horns.

Maybe just a concealed weapons permit would be a bit simpler.

Don’t need one in the great state of Alaska. But we do have a very serious problem with road rage, Most likely young men in big lifted trucks with big tires. They just hate it when your in front of them and they are going 10 plus over the speed limit and want to get around you to be first at the next light. They have guns use their high beams and horns to tell you that you are in their way.And they do it when the streets are a icy mess. Following to close and going to fast for conditions is a huge problem. If you come to Alaska and rent a car beware. We are not worried about bears and moose. The most dangerous thing we do is drive. Mostly in the winter 5-6 months a year

I have a CC permit and do carry at all times. But doesn't help as there are laws that protect the ones trying to kill you on the highway. So you can't solve it that way. So you just need something much louder than the stock horn and a dash camera. All you can do.

You need spend time in the lowers and you will understand quickly why air horns and train horns are popular and even needed.

I disagree a little,... no amount of horn or finger, (input method here); in NC corrects or change the things "they" do on the road... I ride and its even worse (cant put a train horn there....). If you want one... get one.... I simply see it as money spend unnecessarily, but to each is own.. Have FUN...

PS: don't honk them at me..:cool:. I am paying attention and its annoying... Kinda like Light Bars!!

So far in my 74 years haven’t needed a train horn to fend off a would be killer , just lucky I guess :D:eek: . Popularity you say , to be honest I can’t remember ever hearing one out driving in town or on a trip , I’d better tune up my hearing aids :) Maybe it’s a back East thing

They actually make louder horn kits for motorcycles. Seen advertisements for them.

Thats got to be it :), but seriously there is no one round here blowing train horns , except the trains at crossings . In all honesty in my travels with our fifth wheel here in the western states , never recall hearing anyone blowing one . I know of no one that’s even talked about installing one or do I know anyone that has one .
