Yeah, in Bend it doesn't matter what you have, the wait time for any brand is a long time, they need more than one dealer in town for each brand as it's gotten big enough it's become an issue. I dread the thought of going to Portland anymore, so disappointed in how bad that place has become.

Agree PDX area was a big sh it shock when I moved here just over 3 years ago ( from small town in N Iowa of 250 people) to help my daughter after her being in a 5 car pile up on Hwy 26 and then hubby left her so we sold home and came here, still can't get over seeing so many homeless as in i IA and MN never saw any thing like we have here...

Oregon has rolled the red carpet for the homeless, it's exploded in the last few years. One good thing about IA and MN are those below zero winters they have there discourages homelessness.

Never saw homeless even in the warmer parts of Southern IA, I was in Dallas, Austin, Huston TX June of last year and we never saw homeless like I see in PDX, when we first went in to Portland I almost thought I was in San Fran there was so dam many and poop piles on the sidewalks to boot

Go anywhere in CA... I was shocked last time I went through Lodi where I grew up, tents and crap along the highways makes you feel like you are actually in the ZOO.

So, just wondering here. Would the ALFA ODB de-soot process discussed here result in the same, or similar outcome (referencing OPs link)?

I would agree as we have strayed from the original question. I too would like to avoid paying someone to do the effort to care for the emission system. It sounds like the results are such that nobody has had a failure, so there's that. I am new to this DPF/SCR thing but will do my level best to use the tools I can to keep it healthy.

The pricing in the link is a bit confusing for sure. I am pretty sure that price structure is for the equipment, not the service

Anyone that will be wanting AlfaOBD, along with Android phone/tablet, Bluetooth dongle will also need security bypass cable on their 18+ MY trucks. Bcbender has just received a KAODTECH cable and can provide his opinion on it. I'm looking at that one for the FIL truck. I can say it is a great platform for our trucks! Lots of tweaks and tricks along with code and diagnosis ability!

I plan to dive into the install later this weekend (hopefully as I need to finish a Honda top end). I will take pictures and do a writeup... I guess you have to take it back off / out before taking the truck in for warranty work, so I hope it is not a huge PITA to do.

I would do a "temp" install. Would need to be removed before going to dealer! My FIL took his 2020 in the other day, first thing they asked, "was it tuned?". Getting pretty picky taking your truck in now!!!

yeah, I may just see if I can install / remove when Im using it and keep it all together.. unless its too hard, dont want to be in a situation where you have to remove it before the tow truck takes it in (worst case)

Here is what I did with my unlock cable. Rather than moving the stock connector from under the dash and plugging it in to the unlock cable, I got a small 90 degree obd extension cable to connect the stock obd to the unlock cable. Then I just plug my CTS or Obdlink MX into the unlocked side of the extension cable under the dash. When I go to the dealer for service they unplug the extension cable and to their equipment it all looks the same as stock.

Doing it this way you can leave the unlock in place and just unhook the extension cable and tuck out of the way.

BTW: Dealer only asked me one time about the CTS and I explained it was the insight monitor and never had a question again. Their equipment can detect how many times the ECU has been flashed so easy for them to tell if the truck hand been tuned.
