More chip questions?

Can’t get any help from edge . Is there any reason why I can’t just unhook the chip from the battery and call it unhooked I also unplugged the actual black box from the harness . I’m dealing with a nasty engine vibration trying to find the cause after unhooking it seemed to help the vibration go away these edge programmers do change timing right ??

If you’re trying to isolate the Edge as the issue you need to disconnect all connections. Sometimes their wiring is what causes the problem.

with the module unplugged and the power disconnected truck runs a lot better now . Before I unhooked the chip the truck wouldn’t smoke at all now it gives a small puff of black smoke

How do I do that

Disconnect both batteries, wait for 10 minutes or so for ALL truck internal accessories to bleed off power. Reconnect batteries, get in truck, switch ignition on, but DO NOT ENGAGE STARTER, or ANY other accessories - then slowly, depress accellerator FULLY to floor and back, do this several times slowly and smoothly - this action is to initialize - "teach" the ECM the full range of your specific throttle linkage. Then, go ahead and start engine.

That's it - there's a few little odd electrical quirks that can corrupt several ECM functions - this reset usually clears those up...
