TPMS and valve stem recommendations for 19.5 setup

Any suggestions as I will be buying new TPMS and I assume steel valve stems for sure. What else to I need to know.

Thought I'd through a dart at the target... I have a 2017 Ram 5500 Laramie that did not have that option, and there might have been a way to get it, BUT, I decided to pick one up on Amazon that also let me add and program trailer sensors, let me program high temp and air pressure alarm and low pressure alarm settings. The monitor has double sided tape and sets in the cover on the center of dash. I don't seem to have pics, so must never have posted about it.

Gupta is the brand on Amazon.

The TPMS is part of the valve stem. I used to run steel but prefer rubber as they are more forgiving with impacts like sticks and such.

AlfaOBD will let you program your sensors into system. Each TPMS has ID on it and you enter into the location installed. I'm going to mark each rim with number so when I rotate tires I can get them in right place since roll sensor test hasn't worked. Just get sensors that are compatible with truck and good to go. Rubber or metal is owner choice just as which way to change O/F.

Having really bad sinuses, so thinking is slow and challenging (that's my story and I'm sticking to it). When you get 19.5s, be sure to get G rated for more capacity, even though you may go over advertised axle rating. If you can calculate your loaded rear axle weight, then you can calculate the max tire pressure you should be running. Keep us posted what you come up with.

I've bought those and they worked fine, until they didn't. The last set out of three good ones had bad batteries from the start and never worked.
When these work, you don't need to program anything. The RAM will sense the new ones, determine which corner and program it up. Might take 50 miles, but always worked in less than 5 miles for me.

Thanks for all the input, will look at PN and links. My vision HD heavy hauler wheels has larger valve stem opening I beleive. Also I though rubber isnt rated up to 110-120. Also with commercial tires I thought you cannot air them down. Something about the bead and this is one of the disadvatages if you are using them with an empty truck.

I have a smarty and alphaOBD but have not used the alpha yet to set anything, just reading.

So far I lowered by front end back to stock. 295/65/20s hit a little at full lock but will work until tires wear out then will go down a size. My 245/70-19.5 should have even more room. Have overload on the rear and just added adjustable shocks. Also have rear helwig and from a long time ago airbags but they DONT do well with TC other than to level but the side to side much better controlled with overloads even with no air. Getting close now, got to get these tires on and dial in the overloads and shocks.

Anything with a x.5” doesn’t seat the bead the same and needs more air pressure to hold a bead.

You need to play with the airbags now that the level is gone. I am confident you will find them a help and not a hindrance.

Be sure to let the OEM suspension sag at least 1-1.5” and use the bags to hold that level, not higher.

Here's the pressure/load table I use for my 19.5" Michelin XDS2's. This table is for AXLE load, ie. two tires. I run 75 psi (the minimum) when the truck is unloaded, and 95 psi when the truck camper is loaded. I really don't think the unloaded ride is improved much by dropping the pressure to 75 psi.

I have the Michelin XDS2's on the Vision Heavy Haulers as well. I was never able to find a TPMS valve stem that I was sure would fit in those wheels.

But recently I bought a dually for the truck camper. and will be selling the 19.5" wheels & tires when I get the motivation.

SSchang, I got the Hankook AH35s I wonder if there is a similar load chart but it looks from yours I would be at least 95psi

Load chart would be same. It is set by TRA.

note in 2017 3/4t and 1t trucks had different systems, i went through all this here(imho use steel stems if mounting sensors on them, the rubber wont take it)

1500-5500 use the same sensors. The only difference is DRW inners. That covers 13+, maybe older.

I think you'll find 100/101 is as high as they will read. At least that's the way it is on my truck. I run 104 to 108 psi. At least I'll know if the pressure drops below 100. I wonder if that's a parameter alphaobd can change?
