Rear sliding window broke and came off in my hand. Some heavy duty glue should fix it up. Bought 4 gallons of Mobil Delvac 1 today 5w-40 w $200 Good oil been using it for years the price just keeps going up. I want to get the factory oil out soon almost to 3 k miles. New Donaldson filter and good oil. I will sleep better at night About 175$ oil change. Free oil change by the dealer my product. See how they treat me.Spring in Alaska. Lots of snow to melt.

Your new truck should have been shipped with 5w-40 full synthetic in the crankcase and a Fleetguard filter. Why would you want to change it at 3k?

The topic of changing factory fluids has been discussed (and argued) for the 22 years I've been on the TDR and what manufacturer they are. Everyone does what they want is the consensus.

Personally, I don't change any factory fluids or filters early and would have no problem continuing to use them. Just me. And for me, I don't care which engine oil is used either, as long as it's SAE compliant. A friend changes Royal Purple out in his Ford every 3K miles... I've joked him can I have it and run the rest of the 12K miles left on it. I can't remember hearing a single failure or premature wear of a vehicle from folks who exclusively use the dealer for fluid/filter changes. In fact, as my disabilities worsen, I plan to use the dealer for my 5500... already been having dealer do this on wife's 1500.

Cheers, Ron

For me it all depends on how old the oil is when I buy a vehicle, example my wife's 2021 car's oil was 6 months old when I bought it no way would I want to run that oil for 10K l1 year OCI so made dealer change it out and part of me buying the car, my 06 2500 when I bought I did not know the oil was 9 months old, when I found out I changed it at 1500 miles...

I'm on the other end of the oil change scale WRT time on oil. I'm rigid on miles, but don't pay much attention to time. I purchased new 2017 Ram 5500 in May 2018 that had been on the lot 8 months... I still went 15K miles on the oil/filter. In all the years since I started driving in 1974, never had any problems. As I've said many times, it's what works best for you.

I wasn't driving my jeep much and didn't realize it had been 2 years since I changed the oil since it didn't get driven much. I sent the oil sample in and it came back slightly thicker than normal but was not out of spec. While I try to not exceed 1 year on oil regardless of the miles I wouldn't be scared of going a bit over a year.

A lot depends on the specific engine and oil. I’ve seen oil analysis that shows some oils done at low miles and 9-10 months while others can go much longer.

Personally I like to change it early to get assembly lube and initial break in particles out of the fluid, thou I’ve bought used rigs and I’m sure they didn’t get that treatment and oil related failures aren’t running rampant.

Will be 72 in June First time I ever in my life had someone else change my oil and filter. Much less the dealer and I have changed oil a lot in my time. In the 80s and 3 k oil changes driving 1000 miles a week about every three weeks 5 quarts and filter Chevy 350 v8 work trucks now with synthetic oils and extended drains not so much it was a milestone day for me for sure

So my old 99 24v 5.9 held 3 gallons 12 qts but when I changed oil and filter mostly took 2.5 gallons maybe a bit more but always a quart or so left. Dealer put 3.0 gallons in new 2022 3500 ho 6.7 Did it get over filled. I’m watching the dip stick as it cools down or did they just throw it out . Things I need to know

Your 99 took 11 quarts including the filter. The 2nd get trucks drained almost all the oil out.

Your new truck takes 12 quarts including filter. If they actually added 12 quarts I will guarantee you the level will fe over the full line.

Why??? Because where the plug screws in is a thick pc and leaves around 1/3 quart in the pan even if drained overnight. The dealer pulls the plug and as soon as the stream stops they shove the plug back in.

No overfill issues for me adding 3.0 gallons at the change on my 18. The 05 took 3.5 gallons, but it had a bypass.

Level surface and I check it when it’s been sitting overnight.
