A larger filter holds more dirt .

I didn't need an adapter on my '01. The oem intake hose ID was the same size as the OD of the filter intake.

On another forum I challenged BHAF owners to submit an oil sample analysis that showed silicon lower than 10 after 5000 miles. No one could come up with one.

It’s no better and really offers no benefit. I ran one because the factory air box was not there when I bought my truck.

It offeres a lot of benefit when the stock air box is broken . And it holds a lot more dirt

I had the afe for a long time on my 01 that I was ruining 15,000 mile oil change intervals never ever had a high Silicon number
