ok first time posting,
i have a 1984 ford, VE pump cummins, 5sp manual, 4.10 gears, 38.5'' tires.

intercooled, 4'' straight exhaust, pump turned up to max fuel, modified pin, turbo is hx35 guts stuffed into 21cm housing from an H1c... my issue is at WOT ''not towing'' egt's will reach 1200* pre turbo... the truck has way more throttle left but i have to back off cause the EGt's.---- Boosts will max at 28-30 psi...

My ? is= anyone in similar situation? and will a 16cm housing make EGTs got down due to having more boost PSI?

Yes, the 16 housing is better, the oem 12 of HX35 is better yet with the low RPM of a stock governor spring on the VE 12valve. 32-33 psi is about the max on an HX35, anymore is just hot air. I recommend turning the pump down some and adding 50 hp injectors.

Wait… you say WOT but then state it has more throttle left. Which is it?
I should have not said WOT… I should have said I’m holding the throttle so egt’s don’t get any more than 1200*____ I have a lot of throttle left but boost won’t go any more than 28-30lbs.

I would have to do the math for final drive ratio but I've had very good luck with a Holset Super 40 on my truck and I'm running 33" tires on 3.54 gears which puts me 1900 rpm at 70mph

I don’t know the exact tire the OP has, but a tire with a rev/mile of 530 is only doing 1765 rpms at 65, nowhere near enough for the turbo/grade. 4th would be 2350 and much better for a 10% grade at 65.
