Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Oil Cooler Lines

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fass Titanium is Dying

I have a 2001 Ram3500 24valve 5.9 Cummins with a cruise control issue. This is a 5spd Manual 4X4. After connecting a used SmartyJr that had programming issues i ended up with a truck that would not run. Smarty was very helpful with getting the right Stock program for my truck and helping me get it sorted out. the only issue is the cruise control light on the dash is on at all times when the ignition is on. controls have no effect at all. after researching many forums and changing clock-spring and control switches i am thinking that somehow the ECM is thinking the truck does not have cruise or has a setting that is wrong. i am looking for a good OBD2 connector and software for my laptop that will allow me to look at and maybe change settings in the ECM.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have some questions. Why were you using a Smarty Jr (the Smarty S03 is for '98.5-02 engines)? I thought the Smarty Jr is for the common rail engines.

Are you getting any codes?

How long / miles have you had this truck? Are you the original owner?

Was the cruise control working before the truck quit running?

The more information you share about your truck and repairs to your truck, the quicker help will arrive.

My Mistake it is the Smarty S03. not sure why i was determined to call it a Jr.

no codes showing

I am second owner since 2003. Truck has 143,000 miles. had 80,000 when purchased

Cruise was working perfectly until the smarty upload issue

The truck is stock other than the smarty. I got that to help with pulling the trailer due to issues when pulling hills.
Clutch, drag-link, real main seal leak, and and front wheel bearing work done when i first got it.
mostly used to pull 33ft 5th wheel RV.

Thank you for your responses. Can you elaborate more on the used Smarty S03 issues. I am presuming someone from Smarty helped you get the ECM reprogrammed to stock.

The ECM has full control over cruise on manual transmission trucks. Trucks with auto transmission use the APPS for input to operate cruise.

I wonder if your ECM got programmed for an auto transmission when Smarty helped you out - I am only guessing here, but normally a cruise control problem would trigger a trouble code.

Yes Smarty sent me a new Stock file that had to be loaded to the programmer and then to the truck. it is very possible they sent the one for an auto instead of a standard.

I am starting to wonder the same thing. i will be calling Smarty tomorrow to verify that the file they sent me was the right one. even though their help was two years ago and the problem is still going on it would at least give me an possible fix instead of condemning a perfectly fine ECM. It would be worth the cost of having them send me the right one if that is the cause.

I think that calling Smarty would be a good place to start. At least it would clear up whether or not programming could be causing the problem.

Just for general information, I purchased a used Smarty S03 over six years and over 100,000 miles ago. It has never given me any problems and has performed well.

Just got off the phone with Smarty. Their engineer stated that having the auto programming would cause a lot of codes so that possibility is out. I guess I look for a ecm I can test it with unless I can find a way to read and change the ecm data directly.
I’m still looking for thoughts.

Well, I think you already read out the fault codes with a DRBIII did you?
Because it can be wrong in both ends, electronically in the ECM, electrically by the wiring, mechanically by the switches. This is a tough one to diagnose as the CC if very deep implemented into the trucks electrical system.
