1998 12 Valve Oil plug bad

The oil drain plug on my 98 12v has gotten messed up, what is the best way to get it out so I can replace it?

Need a set of sockets made to take rounded nuts/bolts off. You could take an old/extra socket and try to hammer it on and see if it will bite. Some thing like this; https://www.irwin.com/tools/screw-bolt-extractors/5-pc-bolt-grip-expansion-set. HF sells a set also. These things have saved my butt many a time! Sometimes a 12 point impact socket will bit enough. Good luck.

That will not work, the plug is a female 3/8 fitting

Or, I would try a pipe wrench on the outside edge.

After you get it out I recommend you replace it with a finger touch. You'll never have to worry about the plug leaking or getting stripped again.

I don't trust EH-HOLES so I would use a drain plug Geno's sells. I do have a Fumoto on my 350 inboard engine on my boat.

I vote for fumoto. I’ve been using them for over 20 years, off road, on road, on track, street, never an issue.
