I don't post very often, just not my style. Anyway serviced the truck, fuel filters, oil and filter, trans fluid (manual) grease suspension and change the fluid in the GV. I always pour the fluids thru a paint filter just for giggles to see what might be there. Well I get metal shavings to my surprise. I think this is NOT good. So this am I call GV, tell my situation, he ask how many miles on the unit, tell him 160K, he says I got my money out of it. He also stated that the motors we have are hard on them. He also said about 100K is normal. I told him how I drive it and said I did the best I could do. So I have a reman coming. I am just glad I found this now in stead of me on the road. When I tow its 5th being overdriven. The only time that 6th and overdrive gets used is while I'm empty Its amazing how quite it is turning 1750 at 75ish. Anyway just wanting to post and tell my story. Any way 330K on the clock. Other than the normal wear and tear items the only things that's been replaced in those miles are injectors, AC repaired, rear brakes, yes the fronts are original, but low. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.

Always wanted a GV for my '03 (which I've had since new, with 205,000 on it now), but never got around to it. Surprised that only 100K is normal for their lifespan. Also, you mention that you've repaired your a/c at some point. Mine's been inop for years, as it'll just leak the refrigerant out of it over the course of a day or two. What problems did your a/c have and what was the fix(es)?

Like yours, my truck's been damn good to me...

Steve

The AC wore out. It was well worth fixing it. I live in the south and its humid. Complete overhaul of the system. The GV has to be treated with respect and I always used the clutch when I shifted it. It will hit hard when it shifts, up or down.

OD in Direct is the only reason to have it with my spec truck.

But 100k miles of full-time in my use wouldn’t pay half the installed price.

As to the truck, feel very lucky to have it.

I am pleased with the service I got out of it. Is it a little expensive? Maybe, but it served my purpose. I don't use 100% of the time. Location, terrain and speed dictate the use. Over 10 years in service.
