Tow hooks

My 05 4x4 doesnt have front tow hooks . Its got the brackets on the frame to mount them

Few years ago you could get factory ones for $50 bucks. Google search, ebay, used, junk yard take offs these guys want $150 +++....... To Much ..... Ha!

Ill buy or weld up some of these, if I cant find some factory hooks for cheap

I can count on one hand how many times I've used them towing with AAA, not the ideal grab point, and alot of owners of newer trucks don't want them to be used because they're painted. For the weight of a 3/4ton and up truck that grab point will get stressed unless its a straight level pull.

After seeing a tow hook bend on a v10 F250 I just grab frame. Almost never used these on Jeeps, the way people throw parts at them you can't trust that everything is mounted securely.

Eh the 3rd gen tow hooks are actually pretty stout and I have used them alot, broken a few straps but never a hook. Trying to go to the frame with a stock bumper and no hooks is difficult.

Compared to getting a strap on a CA of a lowered R8, there's enough room under a stock height 4x4 2500 or 3500 to have a house party.

I've towed numerous ground hugging European vehicles without their factory designated tow hook that screws into the bumper provisions.

Be sure to look at the OEM instructions. There are support brackets and the hooks that must be installed.

I used them quite a few times on my 3rd Gen, they are very stout and strong enough for off axis pulls. Don’t be afraid of them.

Just like any attachment point for a recovery you can’t jerk on them. This is one of several reasons I walk away when someone starts using chains to recover someone.

I worked in oil and gas for 9 years, using my truck for three of those years. The tow hooks get a lot of use when you drive through snow up to the headlights, or through mud on a daily basis all year long. We used the tow hooks to pull and be pulled. Never broke one!

While searching for a new truck I noticed RAM charges $95 to add them on the truck. Come in Chrome or painted. They probably ask much more at a dealership but you might be able to get them from one of the on line MOPAR parts sellers for less.

They did not have to be added/ordered on my 18 or 22. What years and trim levels are you looking at?

You might have ordered a group that had them in it. Like towing technology or off road group, etc. I bought a 2023 Laramie and mine came in the off road package but when I was pricing a 2024 and looking at MSRP stickers for 2023's when there were no other groups they were always priced at $95. Also when I went to build your Ram site the same applied. Added $95 for the tow hooks. So you must have gotten them included in a group. Appears you got one loaded with EVERYTHING. I drove a 23 2500 Sport edition with similar packages, except a 6.4 gasser and was very impressed. But it had the Ram Boxes and I wanted to put a camper shell on the bed. No company makes a shell for those. I know there is a company that might make a lift for the shell to use those. Bought one without the auto level and I hope not to regret that. It's pretty firm in the back even with tire pressure down to 50.

I don’t recall any packages that include them, or the option to select them separately. Maybe I’ll do a little research.

EDIT: Standard on all 3500 above tradesman. Optional on 3500 4x2 reg cab, either stand alone or several packages.

2500’s are optional on all 4x2’s and standard on all 4x4 diesels. There are stand alone packages for 4x2’s and Hemi 4x4’s.

So I never have seen them as an option because I’ve never shopped for any of the trucks where they are optional.

Makes sense now. I was pricing a 4x4 2500 hemi. Except...we are ordering/buying trucks...for truck use....wouldn't you think they would be stock items? Just sayin'.

Similar to the anti-spin diff, it’s an option on 2500’s and standard on 3500’s.
