How Long Did Your Factory Batteries Last? I Got 17yrs, 4months

When I pulled my truck into my shop after it was raining, was parked outside on a slope with the front lower than the back.
In the level shop some water was draining out of the rocker panel drain vents at the rear of the cab on the drivers side

Anyone know how that water gets in the rockers? Does it drain from the sides of the windsheild cowl down in front of the front doors into the rockers? Also looks like the rockers have two chambers, by looking up at the water drain vents

All my inside oval shaped rocker holes from underneath inside have new sealing tape over them so no road debris gets in there

Im wondering if something needs plugged that is allowing water to get in the rocker panels. Truck is in the West , is real clean, no rust, not a rusted out salt road truck from the east

On my truck the holes across the inside bottom were taped closed from the factory. Over time some of the tape came off.
Today I hardly have any rockers left. Rusted to hell.

Doubt something needs to be plugged. As long as water is able to exit and not sit you should be fine. I went through my rockers, body and frame portions with Eastwood internal frame coating/ rust preventative. Very minor cosmetic rust, worst are my bed wheel arches, Just got some "wordy" retired street signs to fix the right side.

I was thinking of buying some of that Eastwood stuff.

How thick is the stuff ?

Seems like it would clog and seal the drain slots at the bottom of the rocker panel.

My truck had sand size gravel road fines clogging my drain holes when I got the truck.
It had those tube type step brackets installed that attach through those taped off holes where road debris was getting in the rocker panels. I removed the old brackets and cleaned and re-taped the holes after water hoseing out the debris in the rockers

Not thick at all very thin and runny. I did multiple coats on the rockers and inside my doors with the drain holes, no clogs.

Is this the stuff you used ?

Has the long tube you stick in a hole and slowly pull back as you are spraying and has a 360degree spray nozzle.
What color did you use?
I thought it would be thick like the old spray on under coating

I still wonder how water got in my rockers from a light rain while the truck was just parked on a slight slope, and when I pulled it maybe 20 yds into the level shop and a bunch of water drained out at the rear bottom of the cab on the drivers side only. Only thing I can figure is it drained down from the windshield area down in front of the drives door into the rocker some how. Windsheild / cowl water should not drain into the rockers

Yep thats what I used in Black, its thin so it can run down and cover more surface area, the nozzle really gets the coating just about everywhere.

I would check your drain holes, blow them out with air and then run a hose over your truck to see if they're working.

@GSP7 , If you have a sliding back window, water will pout through the stripping, because it shrinks over time. It could work its way out some minor rusted areas. check under the back seats, on the floor, for mold and wet areas.
If in the front, check the drainage tube for the a/c system. This would leak and accumulate on the front right side.

I dont have those issues at all

This is what 18 years of Northeast winters do.

Anyone know the correct rubber plug part number for the holes in the rockers ? Thanks

The ones I found they want too much money for a .10 cent plug, $10-20 bucks apiece IIRC... Ha!

My truck had some kind of tape over the holes. I re-taped mine with some quality construction tape

A good HVAC tape that is applied on a clean and dry surface has served my well since 2018. Get the better type at a box store or if you have someone in the business, ask the for a couple end rolls from a job they might have done. I also like duct seal as it dries semi-hard and pliable for removal as needed. Duct seal is similar to auto body sealer. Would be an option to use on our trucks.

I’ve used Eterabond RV roof tape on my 2018 and my 2023 trucks. That stuff is there for life. Also used it on the big frame holes in my Jeep JL that are right on the wheel well where the front tires when turned shoot everything right at then.

Ive used Eterabond on my RV 5th wheel trailer roof. Good stuff, but you'll never get that stuff off if needed:cool::D
