Only thing I'll ever put in any of my diesel tanks is the Power Service product as that is actually endorsed by an engine manufacturer. In this case, Cummins.

I've been using it for a very long time in my Kubota turbo diesel tractor, and I have had NO issues. I've put a few shots of it in the EcoD for kicks.
 
Here is one, any chemical engineering folks know what the ingredients are used for........ the DPF is activated on EGT from what I know, that's why they dump more fuel in them during regen and raise the operating temperature, maybe this stuff assists in elevating the EGTs, how any of this is allowed to be sold to be a "fuel additive" that will be knowlingly and purposely burned in a "highly regulated" and "engineered" system is amazing.

Wonder what long term effects this kind of stuff would have on Fuel Dilution % levels and Oil Analysis results if any.

I used to use power service in my 2010 with every fill up. Began to notice constant regens. Thought I had an issue with dpf being plugged and did some snake oil dpf cleaner. Remained the same. Decided to not run anything for a few tanks, issue went away and regens were back to normal. After that point I stopped using anything. On my 22 I’ve never out an additive in and had no issues. Cummins does “endorse” power service, but do they really or are they just paid for that statement?

That is interesting to note on the regens. I bet it is because it creates extra soot, so it increases the soot loading, this causing regens sooner. Maybe it was intended to do that. Who knows. (Seems rather counter intuitive though!)

Like I said, I've put it in a few times just to see what happened since I have bottles of PowerService. Didn't notice any power or idle changes. If anything it might've cleaned up the injectors a little bit. Again, who knows.

My Kubota is an older machine, so no emissions baggage. But I am concerned for the older injection pump because the machine was around when normal sulfur diesel was around. So I've been trusting PowerService in that machine and so far so good.

No idea on the endorsement activity. Though I'd trust it a little bit more than some other third party's product that has no engine manufacturer endorsement.
 
They don't recommend it for continuous use from what I know. All these cleaners are meant to be used if there is a problem with the injectors. The one from Caterpillar is excellent to.

There are additives for specific circumstances like lot of idling or low load uses. We used them on some of our construction equipment that had DPF. The additives raise the combustion temperatures to keep the DPF happy. But shouldn't be used with extended WOT use as it could burn up components then.

So,basically, all your engines are built to run with straight diesel from the pump. They don't benefit from any of these magic wonders claimed on the expensive little bottles. But there are some circumstances that need a specific additive to correct a fault.

Me for example I run a bottle of PowerService everytime the smoke gets to high rolling into throttle which can be anywhere between 10k and 30k Miles, and it clears ut up nicely.

That's what I'm thinking.

I only put it in a like 3 tanks worth of the measured amount of PowerService. In my mind to clean up the injectors and to test to see what it would do.

I figured it wouldn't have hurt and it certainly didn't.
