Thanks, TDR Staff

Ride difference 2500 vs 3500

RAM truck is a battery eater

when an ABS unit malfunctions, you still have regular brakes.. which is what you drive with almost 100% of the time.

is it possible someone can sue Stellantis because of a malfunctioning ABS system and getting in an accident? Yes, because McDonalds lost a lawsuit for selling Hot Coffee... this is America after all and it is always someone else's fault that something bad happened. :)

ABS, when needed, has been proven to stop in a shorter distance than locked up wheels or pumping the brakes manually. Stability control and traction are also a function of the ABS pump.

Careful swallowing the well funded Kool-aid smear campaign the victim of Corporate Arrogance had to endure along with over 700 children and others scalded in less than 3 seconds by coffee hot enough to test summer engine thermostat opening up in. You would think Common Sense would NOT serve 190F Scalding Hot Coffee. The case forced McDonalds to make a safer product!

Check out how it actually went and see if that fits the well funded propaganda you hear about it:

lets put it this way. it is safe to drive a vehicle with out a functioning ABS... unless you are borderline and then you still wont be able to save you from yourself.... most of that stuff is designed for nincompoops and they need all the help they can get yet they still crash and burn :) .

as far as the safety weenies go, they are the same boneheads that tried to make cigarette lighters child proof.

Pioneers would have never went across this country if it was up to the "if it only save's one life crowd"...

I guess the “caution, contents hot” is not good enough? Good god, “stupid” really is an affliction that can’t be fixed.

Well, I finally joined the ranks of the ABS light / annoying dinging back in November. Drove the truck to the dealership and of course, the light/message/dinging was no longer taking place, but fortunately they were able to pull the code. A couple of weeks later they installed a new HCU at my expense. I mentioned the court case which had just been decided regarding this issue and that there would probably be a recall issued at some point. Anyway, truck fixed and no further issues since then.

Several weeks ago, I received the postcard informing us of the results of the class-action lawsuit regarding the ABS situation, along with the contact information to file a reimbursement claim with Stellantis. I filed the claim and they are working it.

Was at the dealer for a different matter, and the service manager told me that there was now a recall on the HCU, and that they would place the part on order and perform the swap once the new part arrived. He had been off work the day that I brought the truck in, so I pointed out in the service log where the HCU had already been replaced. To which he replied that these were new HCUs and I should bring the truck back to get the unit replaced again, but this time under warranty.

Anybody else heard of this -- that there is a revised/upgraded HCU in March 2025 which is substantially different than the one which was installed in November of 2024?

Wait for your reimbursement. Dealer is spewing b,s.

I am waiting for the reimbursement. What the service manager is saying is get the HCU reimbursed under warranty in addition to reimbursement for the HCU replacement which was already performed. Doesn't make much sense to me, but I don't work for Ram.

Could it be, they are just trying to get the Diesel owners in to download the.new software, to make them more eco-friendly?? Was it Ford or Cummins that was caught up in the diesel emissions rigging scandal over the past year or so. It seems nobody was bringing their trucks in, to get them updated, to be compliant. These companies are to be heavily fined if a certain percentage aren't brought up to compliance. Perhaps it is a ruse to bring owners in.

Absolutely….to a degree. I have thought this for awhile now, but I trust nobody.

I agree.

I haven't really said anything, but I had my ECU replaced on my 2020 EcoDiesel late last year, and they of course had to reflash the new one to match the spec of the truck. They noted that it was the latest software on the paperwork. What was interesting was my DEF consumption was middle ground before the new ECU, since then it is using slightly more. I can tell because I drive the same route quite a bit at the same pace. Pretty easy to figure out something changed.

Do I care? Kind of. I'd like to have more transparency as to be told what is being changed with my truck when I bring it to the dealer.
