since Costco is switching to a Chevron product in their 15w40 oils
they clearanced the old 15w40...

I said I was no longer going to hoard motor oil, but here I go again

Holy crap!! Here I was thinking that I got a good deal when I picked up a bunch of Delo 5w40 for $8.95/gal. It sucks that they don't have any locations in my state, but for that price, it's cheap enough to warrant a road trip!

Any clue as to the exact Delo 15-40 they’re switching to?

crossing fingers that it’s a full synthetic oil I can run in the Jeep Liberty CRD as well

yeah, I have Costco membership for other reasons, but they aren't everywhere.
yeah, I got the Delo at that price at Discount Advanced too, shame I didn't buy more..
as it was I got the last box at Costco. I'm about a year and a half ahead on oil changes now..
as it is now I also have some Delvac Extreme sitting here that cost slightly less than 10 bucks a gallon after rebate.

I've managed to do pretty good cost wise. A few years ago, I scored 12gal of Mobile HDEO 15w40 for $6/gal, 10 gal of Traveler's 15w40 for $52/pail, and 21 gal of the Delo 5w40 for $8.95. 43 gallons of oil for 387.95, that works out to around $9/gal. I was also getting some shopping credits from the store and also a 30% bonus on top of the 1.5% cashback I normally get from my credit card. I've also scored a bunch of clearance items for dirt cheap!

You are spot on with amount of enjoyment that comes from saving tons of money!

its a good feeling when you hear someone pointing out how much some of this stuff costs and you are doing it for a quarter the cost they pay.
I dont think I've ever done a " free" oil change yet but I have came pretty close.
