I agree with Monstermaker If you primarily use your truck as grocery getter, then stick with stock or slightly lower stall converter, even more so if you live in cold climates where the low stall converters can get very solid/tight on cold mornings. Also the trans. can tend to heat up in stop...
I have tried both 20 in. and 22 in. on my 2002 and without question the 20 in. work better, the 22 in. may move more real estate but the 20 in. sit tight to the window and cleans well. The 22 in. wipers I had to use with Rain X, with the 20 in. I have stopped using Rain X.
A brake upgrade the 2001.5 and 2002 2500's can do is use 3500's rear calipers as the pistons are IIRC dual 2" diameter, the 2500's use 1.75" diameter dual pistons.
If the third gen brakes are used remember 17" wheels and tires are required.
My 2002 3500 Quad cab 2wd, auto, full of fuel with no driver weights in at 6800lb. It makes 19 mpg (on US gal.) at 65 mph with 4:10 gears and stock 235 85/16 tires.
OP does your truck have factory overload springs? by the sounds of things it doesn't. With the camper package/overload springs a 2500 has the same suspension as my 3500 dually has. I carry a 4000 lb camper with stock suspension and rancho 9000 shocks which only helps a little, overall it has...
MarkMullens what frequency is the stutter when it occurs, example: 2 times a second or maybe once every 3 seconds. I have a very similar issue with my truck, a new apps didn't do the trick, the frequency of the stuttuer with my truck is approx: 3 times a second. My issue is not with the trans.
The TC switch does help some, not night and day but it will make a good bit of difference to your brakes after a 7 mile run down a 7% grade. I liked the improvement with my 4000lb+ camper on. You won't have a issue with just the lockup switch and no exhaust brake. The issue is a exhaust brake...
Bslayer do you know how much wear your slip ring had, mine has . 025 wear groove, I was just wondering how much life might be left in mine? The alt. shop I found want 70$ just to replace slip ring, by the time I get bearings, brushes, I will have as much as a rebuilt alt. into it.
I'm in the same boat, my truck has 125,000 miles and the slip ring is grooved badly. I have the alt. apart in my garage right now, so guess I will call a electrical rebuilding shop I know and (got the new brushes from) see if the slip ring is available. I'm not holding out much hope, I'm seeing...
Looks like those shocks in the picture are Rancho 9000's, they have a lifetime warranty but I suppose you would need a recipe for them to get warranty.
I installed a Airdog100 but after checking the filter specs of the Airdog I decided to bring the stock filter back into the system, along with a big line kit from the filter to the VP44. The most psi drop was maybe 1 psi at WOT with the stock filter in the system.
We must own the only 2wd trucks in British Columbia LOL, there rare in my part of BC. I feel the same way about 2wd versus 4wd.
I just bought my 02 truck 2 years ago with 105,000 miles, I figured it was just broke in and have since made two 6000 mile trips to Arizona and one 12000 mile trip...
