I had a bypass oil filter for many years, but never experienced any benefit, based on my UOAs. Soot and viscosity was always very high and recommendation was to not extend the change interval. I ended up removing it about 2 years ago. Once removed, I have not noticed any difference in my...
Traction Law
During winter storms, or when conditions require, CDOT will implement the Passenger Vehicle Traction Law. CDOT can implement the Passenger Vehicle Traction and Chain Laws on any state highway. During a Traction Law, all motorists are required to have EITHER:
4WD or AWD vehicle and...
The only thing I will add is that going up to the tunnel going west is really not bad at all. Much more of a strain coming Eastbound. Lower gear on the downhill into Silverthorne and lower speeds in the right lane. What you need to be aware of is the hill out of Denver (where 70 crosses 470)...
My OEM speakers worked fine. The only issue I had was I lost the fader (front to back) ability. IIRC (and I may be mistaken) it had something to do with the factory amp. I had a new amp installed and got talked into new speakers at the same time. But the OEM ones seemed to do just fine.
The Kenwood I used (although it had a CD player which you said you didn't want) had 2 usb inputs in the back. I mounted a dual usb plug down below and ran usb connectors from there to the head unit. Allows me to charge my phone as well as play usb sticks. I can also do Apple Car Play with my...
I was getting intermittent P2509 code and my final fix was to replace all the battery cables - I had tried cleaning all the grounds and terminals but could not get it to go away - replacing the cables, esp the crossover cable, fixed my issue.
This is the Kenwood I used: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-54KrUWjk98i/p_113DDX6905/Kenwood-Excelon-DDX6905S.html
It says "modified fit" but I think that is because I had the non Nav Factory radio - super easy install and with the new double-din bezel there were no modifications necessary. I...
I put a Kenwood unit in my 06 - I did not get the Nav option since it has Android Auto compatibility and I use Waze for navigation. The Kenwood has a single disc player. I got it from Crutchfield. My orig radio was not the Nav one, so I bought a new bezel and it all looks factory.
You could also look at an already built unit and just swap them - there is a balance between parts and labour - when I looked to replace mine, I ended up going with a complete factory built (BD) unit as it was not much more than the cost I was quoted to rebuild my own unit and I was able to...
You may also look at a new trans cooler like the Mishimoto. Since replacing my stock cooler with the Mishimoto, I noticed I rarely go above 190 anymore, even towing up and down the CO mountains (9K trailer) in the summer. Super easy swap (at least for my '06).
I had an issue with the pressure building up and my brakes coming on slightly - brake lights would stay on when stopped (in park, foot off break pedal). I solved the issue by drilling out (every so slightly) the vent hole in the cap, if I remember correctly. Solved my problem. However, I...
