    Advice on selling truck

Hello all. If this is the wrong place for this, I apologize and please let me know. Due to a recently diagnosed seizure disorder in which I can occasionally lose consciousness unexpectedly, I don't want to risk injuring others (both because it's the right thing to do, and because if I were to...

Need a rear hub and having difficulties....

New frustrations. I got the numbers off the rear differential and went to a transmission shop with them and was told that my rear end came off a '91-93 D600 or D700. It's my understanding that Dodge stopped making these in '81. Why am I getting such lousy info??? If anyone can help, my casting...

Need a rear hub and having difficulties....

Thanks Donovan. You'd think it wouldn't be this difficult. I've used car-parts.com, called almost every place across the country, and asked for suggestions and called all those. I think I have 3 pages of phone numbers that I called. I think I have found one off e-bay. He says he has one with...

Need a rear hub and having difficulties....

Hello all. I hope the spring is treating y'all better than me. Like the title says, I'm looking for a rear hub. Here's the wrench. Apparently the guy I bought the truck from 15-ish years ago put a different rear-end on my rig, and I've tried 4 different hubs fro various yards, all with no...

How's your body / chassis holding up? How many miles? Your state location?

'93 Ram 250 - 410,167 miles and still going strong (hope I didn't just jinx myself...) I live in western WA, spent a small time living on the coast. It's been well used, as I raised beef for about 10 years... Body is doing OK, a number of scratches and small-ish rust spots. Had to replace both...

Qestions about braking and unrelated vibrations

Don - Nope, just when driving, and it's probably the front tires... (and up until last week I was driving through Clatskanie a couple of times a week). Regarding the braking, I noticed today that it seems to brake better in reverse than forward. Does this implicate front or rear? Due to...

Qestions about braking and unrelated vibrations

Thanks Scott and Wayne, and I think I just added a signature....

Qestions about braking and unrelated vibrations

Hello all. (I wish I was more knowledgeable about vehicles so I could contribute instead of just taking info...) Anyway, I have 2 more questions: 1. Should I be able to lock up my brakes and screech to a stop on my 250 diesel? 2. I've recently noticed that my truck vibrates from about...

    Are '93 diesels inherently leaky?

Hello all. I've got a '93 Ram 250 with 397K miles on the 5.9L diesel that has a mild oil leak coming from the back part of the engine for years. I had it into the mechanic a couple of weeks ago to fix this, and he said that these trucks are inherently leaky and nobody will ever fix the leaks. I...

Long term storage advice for 1993 Ram 250?

Thanks for the replies. I talked with folks at Cummins and they recommended filling the tank and adding a fuel stabilizer to avoid moisture condensation due to probable temperature fluctuations, and an oil change to avoid corrosion from acids that build up due to oil breakdown with use. They...

Long term storage advice for 1993 Ram 250?

Hello all. I was just diagnosed with a medical condition that will prevent me from driving for at least the next 6 months. I'm wondering what I need to do to the above mentioned 5.9L diesel (with 396K miles) to ensure that it will be able to continue to be my daily driver (and reach 500k) when...

Intermittent problem of a dead truck

Thanks for all the replies, guys (and gals, if appropriate), but the saga continues... My mobile mechanic came out today and I gave him all the suggestions. He nodded, and suggested we try starting it again while he cracked the injector lines again. As he cracked the second one from the front...

Intermittent problem of a dead truck

Hello again all. Thanks for the input, and the saga continues. Truck won't start this morning (letting it get lighter and see if the rain eases before I go further, which means cracking/bleeding injector lines as that seems to have been the most consistent thing that works). jfluffy2 - I...

Intermittent problem of a dead truck

More info... Has run fine for a couple of weeks, but after my last errand today, it almost didn't start, taking about 5-10 seconds to start and I had to hit the accelerator. Normally fires right up, even with my foot off the accelerator.

Intermittent problem of a dead truck

Thanks for the quick reply, Simplysmn. I started changing the fuel filter like you do this past fall when but before that only did it every 30K. It rarely gets cold enough for the diesel to gel, average low temps in the 40s here on the wet side of the Cascades. What I've been told is that to...
