My 97 did the same thing. Did every diagnostic check on the system and TPS and it was all good. A DC tech friend of mine said that is normal on these:rolleyes:
Finally just by passed the TPS completely and wired in a potentiometer (same thinge that Rides A Mule did). It works great. You can...
Anyone ever modify the center support bearing mount so that an off the shelf center bearing assy can be used?
Just like this thread all the center supports have "outside ears" and will not bolt up to the exist center support mount. The CarQuest assy has the correct bearing ID (1. 575) and the...
Bakerjohn, Thanks for the info!
Talked to the rebuilder, he said this is a very common problem with this trans. They are sending me the "special fitting " to install. Will see if it is the Sonnax kit.
After 9 months of chasing down the leak on a reman trans, a DC tech friend of mine found the source - the rear cooler line port is cracked at the case. Very small crack, hard to see, only opens up when the trans is hot.
The rebuilders prior responce to solve the leak is remove the...
You are correct, it is the 47RE transmission.
The X-fer case seal are good - no leaks between the OD and the X-fer case.
The leak is between the transmission housing and the OD unit. Any ideas?
Need help correcting a transmission leak. 97 4x4 with the 47rh trans. Rebuilt by (name with held for now). Has about 1000 miles since rebuild. transmission is leaking a lot at the seam between the main transmission case and the OD unit. All the mount bolts are tight, cooler lines & fitting are tight. Cannot find...
My 97 had the same issue (no fun when towing a 38' GN or when driving in So Cal traffic) until I did the Howard / Ridesamule TPS conversion. Disconnected the TPS and added a potentiometer on the dash. Has worked GREAT for several months and many tows. Very simple to do, only took about 30...
Thanks for the responce Howard.
Here is what I have done so far
Checked resistance - 2680 across, 440 & 220 between the center and the ends. No erratic readings through out the entire range.
Idle voltage 0. 95 t0 1. 01
WOT voltage 3. 90
Removed and cleaned up the TPS. Rechecked and got...
After doing lots of reading here I am still confused.
Truck - 97 3500 4x4 47re <rebuilt, billet single disc TC>. Linkage set per specs.
Running empty it shifts through all the gears / OD / lock up - sort of.
OD off - Any more that 60% throttle the TC unlocks
OD on - will shift into OD...
Need some held diagnosing a problem with a 97 CTD 3500 4x4 w/ 198k, and a Banks Kit. Just installed a reman trans w/ billet faced single dics converter. <Not looking to bash the vendor, only trying to see if there is an issue> When running empty the trans shifts cripsly and operates correctly...
Truck is a 97 3500 4x4, 198k. Truck has been in CA its entire life.
While putting in a reman transmission today I noticed the internal splines on the transfer case input sleeve are about gone. Only about 30% of each spline is left(only a short and very sharp ridge remains instead of a full interal...
We bought a Forest River Work-N-Play 38SB. It has some issues - circuit breakers, water pipe leaks, wall bows. However most of the issues are minor compared to a lot of the other stuff I see from other manufactures. Towing it to a dealer is not an option, so I just have them supply the parts...
Plan on going through my transmission very soon. It does have some issues (code 37, slow shift into OD and TC lock up, limp mode) that will be diagnosed and any electronic problems dealt with first. For preventive maintenance I will replace the governor soleniod and the transducer. It also has 198k...
Thanks for the info guys.
Made a deal on the truck and picked it up Friday nite. Checked the fluid level (good) and disconnected / reconnected the batterys to clear the codes. Still got a code 37. Shifted it manually all the way home (mostly hiway).
It will go into OD but takes a few...
