    Purchasing Diesel fuel on trip

As stated above the large truck stops, T/A, Petro, Flying J, Pilot and Loves, and toll road plazas (Trapped audience!!) are more expensive, QT's are usually a little less. I try to find the larger regional convenience store chains, like Sheetz in PA & VA, Hot Spot in SC, Marathon in the midwest...

    Burn baby burn

A clutch return spring is minor.. Lose a throw out bearing, NO clutch at all, on I-76, the Schuylkill Expressway in Philly when it was under construction in the late 80's, driving a 13 speed with a loaded trailer. Made it to the customer in Pitman NJ and backed it into the dock.

    Burn baby burn

I learned on the hand clutch John Deere's and Alice Chalmers before I was big enough to be able to push a clutch peddle in.. When you got big enough to pick up a bale of hay, you got DEMOTED!! Double clutching just came naturally, as part of driving? In the last 60 years I have driven about every...

    Need New Truck

I have to agree with Stickk.. I have over 40 years and 4 million miles of tractor trailer driving.. I had a F-250 then bought a 32 foot/102 wide gooseneck hitch enclosed car trailer. Even with Firestone air bag helpers on the 250 it was still not "comfortable" with the new trailer.. Bought a...

Does the use of the exhaust brake increase rear tire wear?

Mr Henderson, Sadly I have to agree with your answer. And I will not hijack this topic to go on a rant about today's educational system which teaches young people to rely on electronic support rather than good old common sense!! Passenger car operators SHOULD be as well trained as professionals.

Does the use of the exhaust brake increase rear tire wear?

I guess I am TOO old fashioned to understand this concept!! All of today's so called "electronic help" only make stupid drivers dumber!! I learned to drive when a person could see the weather and adjust his vehicle and his driving habits to meet those conditions.. I can also read a map and...

Does the use of the exhaust brake increase rear tire wear?

There MIGHT(??) be a cure???? My 3500 is a cab and chassis rather than a dually and my EB switch has stayed on for the many stops and starts in 45k miles. But the TH shuts off each time#@$%! the switch turns off?? Maybe Sag2 or Bob 4X4 have an answer???

    Computer Flash Update???

My signature 2014 3500 C&C now has 45k miles as a daily driver with only 8500 miles towing miles at 23k gross. The last time it was at the dealer was Nov 2015 with 21k miles for warrantied front end work and service. Since then I have had it serviced at a private garage. In May I am planning...

Bob Does this mean when we are towing and shut off the engine that we have to unplug the trailer light cord before restarting the engine???

New Ram 2500 or 3500 for 14k toy hauler with 3000lb pin weight

Definately a 3500 DRW.. That heavy on the pin needs DRW stability with a sudden flat tire..

    300 mpg DEF?

When my truck was first new it drank a lot of DEF, guessing in the 300 MPG range empty. After my first service it improved a lot!! May have been a computer update??? Not real close figures, but around 500 MPG loaded @23000# and better than 800 empty. I have the 9 gal tank and let it drop below a...

    Is it Safe to Overload

The Diesel cops would stop you for 2 things. First not enough straps on notoriously slippery blocks, you ever notice that the big trucks have boards or wire mesh down the whole side of the pallet before they strap it down? Second with only single tires on the trailer you are probably over on...
