2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Parking Brake Control unit help

Parking Brake Problem The problem turned out to be the failed ball end of the right rear parking brake cable. The parking brake control unit will not operate properly (won't ratchet when the pedal is depressed) if there is no tension on the mechanism from the parking brake cable. This led me...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Parking Brake Control unit help

'98 3500. When I activated the E brake I heard a sound like a big spring unwinding. After that, the E brake would not engage (no ratchet sound when applying the brake and the pedal would not stay down). Ordered a whole new parking brake control. It came with a piece of bent wire in a hole...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Upgrade to rear disc brakes?

I have a '98 &1/2 3500 with rear drum brakes. Had the drums turned and they botched it; made them out of round. Drums were re-turned to true but now no adjustment left in my emergency brake cable. I suspect the drums have been turned to their limit and I will soon need new drums. The dually...

    3500 auto upgrade

Been a member awhile. Have '98. 5 3500 auto. Want to add exhaust brake and make transmission last. No bomber (Maybe EZ at max) will baby my rig. Want it to last . Haul 3000 lb camper and 4000lb boat. Not very mechanically inclined. Totally confused about Torque converters, Valve bodies, lock-up...

How much for a stock '98.5 lift pump

Same problem with Dodge parts counter. Tried to get a spare lift pump for a trip. Dodge said it was a "contact star hotline" part and they couldn't sell it over the counter. If they could, it would cost me $395. 00. Found the pump (5th upgrade)at Cummins West for $139. 00. Dodge couldn't care...

    Decelomatic Exhaust Brake Good?/Bad?

I read a comment from a guy in a magazine about the Decelomatic Corp. "Mountain Tamer" exhaust brake. He had one on each of his last 3 Dodge diesels. He said the Mountain tamer works great and does not harm the stock automatic transmission. I just bought my first Dodge/Cummins, a '98. 5 24V...
