RAM truck is a battery eater

That's how I jump started mine, with a small portable jump starter. They contain Lithium Ion batteries and stay charged for a year or more. Better than jumper cables as you don't need another vehicle to connect to. And it's not "CLICK, CLICK, CLICK" when these batteries die. It's only ONE...

RAM truck is a battery eater

Well, since battery brand, type ( lead acid vs. AGM) longevity , country/place of origin, climate, oven baked/frozen , opinions, and any other factors I haven't thought of yet...are all over the map seems like only one thing to do.... Buy the cheapest, longest warranty, with the most retail...

RAM truck is a battery eater

And this is why I switched from a Flooded lead acid to an AGM type. "Supposed" to last longer and not suffer from electrolyte boiling and acid leaking past the post seals, along with other differences. Higher cost too. Typically priced from a low $179 at Walmart to over $400 for some "higher...

RAM truck is a battery eater

At 3 years old I'd be load testing those batteries. My wife has been complaining for several week that the dash warning "Service electronic brake system" And "Service four wheel drive system" were coming on intermittently when she first turned the key on the the diesel fuel warmup procedure...

RAM truck is a battery eater

Wow...lots of varied responses here. We live in the central part of Kalifornia, where summers get over 100 degrees for weeks at a time. This of course means engine compartment temperatures well above that. A literal oven for the batteries to sit in all summer. It's a daily driver so it doesn't...

RAM truck is a battery eater

Why can't I get more than 3 years out of a set of batteries? OE batteries lasted maybe a week after original warranty expired. Replaced with Interstate/Costco version flooded lead acid type. Again within about 3 years, just beyond the warranty/free replacement period. The flooded lead acid type...

    Theft by FCA

Hello all, So my 2015 2500 Cummins Turbo actuator went out resulting in a $3800 repair bill from our local stealerhip. The truck is still under the power train warranty but the dealer said that this repair was not covered under the warranty. The Turbo housing IS covered, but not the actuator...

OBD ll code C006A-54 and "ESC" MIL lit on dashboard

I erased the code yesterday and took the truck for a spin around the block. Parked it and shut off the engine. Restarted the engine and the ESC MIL came right back on. Looks like we are headed back to the Dealership for a "re-do" of the T25 recall update. You would think that as many of these...

OBD ll code C006A-54 and "ESC" MIL lit on dashboard

Howdy all, Took my RAM 2015 2500 Cummins 4x4 into the dealer a few days ago to have them perform the safety recall T25, Occupant restraintControl Module , T79 Brake Transmission Shift Interlock and T51 Diesel water pump recall. Noticed yesterday the ESC malfunction indicator lamp on the...

    P0542 Code and CEL

Yes Sir ! Ram_Fan , On my last post it was suggested I check the connections on the "Ford style" relay for the grid heater , located on the passenger side below the battery. It has push on style connectors. These get goofy with corrosion or temperature swings causing a poor connection. What I...

    P0542 Code and CEL

Thanks Bob4x4. I'll be checking for that and the connections made to it. I am hearing even a slight loose connection can set a code on these RAM trucks. Wonder if they bought all of Ford's left over starter solenoids to use in the 2015 truck builds . heh !!

    P0542 Code and CEL

Hello all, My 2015 2500 Cummins set a P0542 code and Check engine light a week ago. I scanned the code, reset it to see if it would re occur . It came back on yesterday. I scanned again and just found Freeze frame data for the same P0542 but it did not set a code, even though it lit the CEL...

Attempted dealer lube job rip off?

The free oil change "warranty" is for 6 oil changes or 40,000 miles I believe. I'm on my 3rd oil change with the Dealer stating he uses Pennzoil (yuck). But I'll use the free oil changes and then go back to DIY with Delo. The oil change "warranty" is offered to affinity groups such as The...

Attempted dealer lube job rip off?

OK, I did some searches that describe a "dimple" to be lubed on the drive shaft. They don't say exactly where it is though. Is it on the actual shaft...or inside the yoke assembly on a U joint???? Somebody on this forum has actually done this, so, where did you insert your needle tip? Cheebus...

Attempted dealer lube job rip off?

That would make sense. I have a needle tip for my grease gun, and have used it many times. However, I still have not seen a point to lube on the front shaft. Where EXACTLY is it? On the actual U joint? Any pictures of it? Thanks for the replies, I'll do some more searching. Shane
