Thanks for that Joe,
The Chevy is getting a nv5600, using a GM alternator and GM A/C compresor- sounds as though I can do with out the PCM. Racor filter assembly will have it's own heat, and I've got a switch on the dash for the glow, ahem, grid heater.

I will be doing a compression test later today. I am still waiting on manuals for this, so what kind of cylinder pressure is considered good? What is it new rating/rebuild service limit? I searched and can't find this info anywhere on the site. 95 CTD P7100 235K miles.
Regards,
Dave
I have a 95 CTD trapped inside a parts truck that is going to get pulled. I have the engine disconnected from the chassis electrical system and the ECM is gone so is the wiring harness to it. I can start and run the engine, but would like to know stuff like oil pressure & coolant temp. I need to...
Well,
The cummins runs very good, and stopped smoking after a few hours run time over the course of a few days. The transmission was a bit low on fluid owing to a leaking oil line and goes into reverse fine now. Just a couple questions:
Q: the fire started in the heat sink area of the ECM...
Talk about speaking of the devil and he appears- I just bought a truck with a new one of these in the back seat and I put it on Ebay and it ended last night. In fact I just returned from shipping it out to Phoenix. Had I been logging on everyday, I would have stopped the auction and overnighted...
Hi,
I'm in S. NH I have a 95 ext cab I am parting out. The truck is in Pelham- the bottom of the state. I know the door is not a match, but the fender may work out as fitting. e-mail me at -- email address removed -- to continue this correspondence

Well,
I disconnected the intercooler hose, forced compressed air through and no debris made it in during the fire. The turbo oil line leaked a bit and after fixing that, the engine fired up after a few short attempts on the starter and 15 seconds on the grid heaters. I had the block heater...
Thanks for that, evidence would suggest that both receive (+) given what wires are left and how they are bundled. FordCummins, is that you Roger? I spoke to you over the phone a few months ago about adaptors for a Chevy. You may not remember me, but you chuckled when I told you I had a 6. 2 with...
ARGGGGGG... can't spend 3 days searching the forum to this extremely simple question:
1995 grid heater has two posts: do both receive (+) from batt and ground through engine, or is one (-) and the other (+)? Sorry guys, I looked for the answer but don't have all day to find it.
Dave
The Dodge is an auto w/OD, but when I'm done with the Chevy... 6 speed manual.
I like this Dodge quite a bit as well, it's just the condition of the truck that was the tipping point to pull the Cummins. Interior is shabby gray and was smoked in, used to plow, oversize tires- she went...
I know it looks ugly, but that was the pre-buy photo  - she cleaned up nice today with the removal off all that 'crispy' stuff. Once I get it to fire and run, I can start the task of liberating that engine and parting out the rest of the truck. Boy, is it a lot of work to "fix" a head...
Here are a couple of pics of the truck. I was on the fence about fixing or parting out and today after several hours under the hood, I'm going to part it out. It's rough and more than I really want to get into. When looking for one, I really just wanted the engine. I only briefly flirted with...
