I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I could not find anything close while searching.
The needle on my new Cobalt boost gauge flickers at higher boost, 30-50 psi. Any ideas?
P. S. Had to ditch the Dakota Digitals. Nothing but problems. Good costomer service though.
Please help me figure out what I do or don't need to do. With all the mods in my sig. Smarty= 60 HP Moderate Torque, most recent programing. TST= 2/2.
My EGT's climb faster than my boost gauge(40-50psi), and don't stop until I let off the go pedal. I thought my high dollar turbo was supposed...
Here is my story. My typical mileage is right around 12. 5 (hand calculated of corse) it sucks, but its acceptable. When I leave town I turn everything down so the wife can drive it. (smarty to stock, TST-Econo 0/0) I got back to town and figured the mileage and its down to 9 mpg!
No smoke...
I hope my sig. shows up this time.
So is it possible to experience turbo surge with a stock turbo? Thats all I have, and at moderate RPM with the TST on 6/6 or7/7 I get what sounds like turbo bark but I never let off the pedal. I also see a sudden drop in boost according to my gauge.
I'm pretty sure I understand turbo lag and turbo bark. But I'm not sure I understand turbo surge. What is it? At what rpm dose it occur and why? What are some fixes?
I bought my 04. 5 used with no muff or cat. What a terrible roar! Sounds like an old chev pickup with glass pack mufflers. I started and ended my search at Magna Flow. I installed their 5in. into 4in. s/s duals and was blown away!!!
Deep rich tone at idle (not to loud at all) and a @$$ kicking...
