Does anyone know what the maximum tow rating is for the 'new' automatic. If it is beefed up shouldn't it be able to tow more than the 9500 of the old transmission.

For those of us without gauges, what is the importance of EGT cool down, and is there a rule of thumb for the time at idle for EGT to get to a reasonable temperature.

transmission My transmission is stock with 11k miles. Towing (8,000 lbs) over the mountains last weekend the torque converter shuddered and made a scraping noise when downshifting on a steep grade. For towing I wish I had gotten the 6 spd, but most of my driving is back and forth to work.
