Take the rear driveline down and you should be able to tell where the slop is put the truck in neutral after you get it disconnected put it into 6th and work it back and forth also check the pinion for slop
The nv5600 weighs 365 lbs by its self with the T case over 450 lbs I install them as a unit and its true it is not an easy job with both together on the lift and a floor jack rated at 1100 lbs not to hard
You need a 98 12v non cal man tran PCM everything else should work fine. The wiring for the CKP and cam pos sensor leave alone as the PCM controls all of that.
Hi Papa I think the tone wheel on the front would be the simplest way to fix it the 03 and up had that design but the o3 tone wheel has 58 teeth and an opening for TDC
