    i put a new voltage regulator in before the the new battery and alternator. would the alternator cook the voltage regulator if it wasn't working properly

    hello i have a 1991 dodge w250 with 5.9L cummins and it says that its over charging i put a new alternator and a battery in, just got a new voltage regulator. what would be causing the truck to over charge. would the alternator cook the voltage regulator if it wasnt working?
